Hacking Patriot 2GB Micro SDs

From what I know, there are two different Patriot microSD on the market. They have different part numbers, and come in different packaging:

microsd1
microsd2

my question: Why is microSD1 so expensive compared to microSD2, when the microSD2 comes with a free minisd adapter? Thanks

My guess is that the microsd1 is faster?
