Hacking patching software

Since my purple SCmini died, I was thinking about getting a SC Lite.. Is the patching software the same? Or does SCLite have it's own patching software for the microSD memory (seems I heard something about that)? Will games I've already patched have to be re-patched for the new SCLite?

I still have another DSL with a purple SCmini, I'd like to only patch stuff once.. Either that, or I'll just go all SCLite I guess..

The SC Lite has its own software, so I guess you will have to patch all you games again, but the saves should work fine.
