can anyone maybe help with a good site with good prices and that can be trusted? also im going to need a pretty decent sized memory stick something like 8gb-16gb should suffice right? for downloading psp games. ps if im just going to be getting games will i only need a normal mstick or will i need a magic mstick?

Local stores are your friends.
Why do you need a pandora anyway?
To recover from brick? Or just to install CFW?

Don't get those Memory Sticks from DealExtreme as they are fake and is highly not recommended for Magic Memory Card. For Magic Memory Card, just get the 512mb one (they should be under 10?) from highly reliable American (yes, American) sites like Newegg, Bestbuy, and so on.

Fry's Electronic is not always reliable since they sometimes get third party stuff.

all 3 of mine from dx still work fine, had them for over a year now. but he's right they are fake and read slower. I used a 4gb for my magic memory card then just formatted it and put some games on it.

If you just want to play games you only need a CFW and a normal Memory Stick.
Pandora + Despertar Cementario is for downgrading , repair a brick and so on.

so i dont necerilly need the pandora battery for the games?
yep just a CFW and then you can put the games in MSroot:/ISO/.
By the way if you have PSP Phat you can make a Pandora battery out of it

Slim batteries aren´t working.

Ok, I just got my Pandora, tried it out, no joy. It's a PSP-2000, but I got it used and it's running version 3.80, which I was lead to believe was a "safe" OFW for modding. I popped in the pandora and the memory card created as said in this thread, and nothing at all happens. The orange light comes on if it's plugged in, green if it's not, but the screen remains black. If I go back to the original battery then everything comes back up fine, but I'm not getting that system screen. Do I need to charge the Pandora more to get anything, or is it bad, or is my PSP just un-pandora-able, despite it's low firmware?

edit: I just checked with PSIDent and it's apparently a TA-85v2 board.

edit 2: Nm, I finally got it to work thanks to some help form Xist, the issue was that the tutorial for making a memory stick I was using was outdated, but this one worked great.

You gotta hold R when you pop the battery in and turn it on, if you're not doing that already. A menu should show up then. Don't forget to dump your NAND.

You didn't need to buy a Pandora. ChickHEN works fine. Upgrade to 5.03 OFW, Run ChickHEN, Hellcat's flasher. PSP 2000 v2 and below are all Pandora-able AFAIK. Mobos v3 and 3k are not.

Note: Since you have the battery already, might as well use it and yes, back up your Flash 0.
