Hacking Out of the loop for a while... Please help me clarify a few things?

I have read the stickied topics but I am still confused.

My Wii is running on 3.2u and it is softmodded with the Homebrew channel and various backup loaders from around last December.

I am buying Wii Sports Resort tomorrow and I understand that the game comes with a forced update. Now is there a way to update my Wii to 4.0 (4.1?) and play Resort without bricking my Wii or anything.

I am not playing anything at the moment so I am even willing to erase the Homebrew Channel, update to 4.0 and reinstall everything at a later time... is that even an option? Is there a Homebrew solution for 4.0?
