All regions now supported!

If you appreciate this guide and the work I put into maintaining it, I accept donations through both Bitcoin and PayPal.

If you felt like the guide helped you out then I'd really appreciate it! If I get enough I may buy a 2DS for testing hardware stuff so I don't break another N3DS.

If the guide didn't help you out then I'm really sorry about that :(

Can we use Tiny Format 3dsx instead of cia version?

Also if I start fresh should I skip back up nand.fat16.xorpad, and nand.fat16.0x4.xorpad?

You can use the 3dsx version just fine. Just be sure that you run it from the nand that you plan to format.

And yeah, the xorpad files are always the same so if you backed them up once then you're good.

Has anyone successfully does this on a Mac OS X 10.11.x system? I would like to be sure the latest version works for at least one other person.

Also, is it safe to use HS app inject to get a CIA installer? Do I need to replace the original HS app if I use HS inject?

I just got a new 3ds after bricking my older 3ds following an older version of this tutorial. I do not have any method of restoring the NAND if I brick a second one and I do not have anything else to trade in to get another new one if this fails.

You could try asking someone here to compile the a9lh for you if that's a problem, but I saw someone successfully doing this on OSX on the last page.

You can inject some CIA installer to H&S, I did so myself. If you don't want it in the future just reinject H&S and you're good to go.

I'm not worried about getting it compiled I am worried about installing the "unbricked" nand backup.

I have problems in Section II, step 8 in Old_3DS_Spider.

I booted into CakesFW, installed TinyFormat.cia. Started TinyFormat, pressed Y and rebooted into CakesFW again. Went through initial setup, but when I pressed the Home Button at the end my O3DS rebooted. I chose CakesFW yet again, but it quickly rebooted into CtrBootManager where I chose CakesFW yet again. Then it stops with a red touchscreen and I have to power off the 3ds.

This happens every time I try to boot into emuNAND/CakesFW.

I restored the emuNAND.bin backup, but I'm afraid I'm doing something wrong.

I used this guide to set up CFW.

I'm following the guide for Spider N3DS but before proceeding further I saw that there are hashes put in the 1st page of the guide to make sure I'm not downloading any corrupt file or something... Are those Hashes up to date?

Code:
Pack .zip SHA-256

Because I've downloaded the OTP-New_3DS_Spider_U.zip from the guide and it yields a different hash... Now I'm afraid to proceed...

Any enlightenment on this one would be highly appreciated :)

Thanks!

I feel like it's a good idea not to flash this to my NAND.... anyone know what the hell is happening?
you are on a mac so you have python, you can use my original version of the program, it's in python.
but you will have to do the xorpad bit yourself, in my thread there are alterations of my code which do this for you :)
search the forums for my 3dsfat16tool

Thanks, I changed menuhax to not autoboot, but I'm not sure if I'm unlinking properly.

I boot into CFW (sysNAND->browserhax->bootselect->CakesFW), install TinyFormat CIA, use it in CFW/emuNAND. It auto reboots into Initial Setup, but I'm not sure "where" I am after the setup. I changed my theme to black and it turned black on both sysNAND and the CFW I boot into. I do have two folders in my Nintendo 3DS folder as I previously used TinyFormat to format my sysNAND.

Should I rather do sysNAND->browserhax->CFW->browserhax->HomebrewMenu->TinyFormat.3dsx and press (Y) ?

Edit the Mac.sh in TextEdit and remove the -n and the -o from the two 3DSFat16tool command lines.
Have you restored your NAND to an "unbricked" 2.1 after doing this?

Have you restored your NAND to an "unbricked" 2.1 after doing this?
I need to be 100% sure this is safe

New 3ds checksums are outdated, Mac script needs '-o' and '-n' removed or you will get "failed" errors. If you flash even after seeing errors, you will brick.

What hax did you use on 10.6

Why would you use hax on emuNAND?

If your questions is, how I installed those CIAs -> H&S FBI injection with D9
This also survives the Tinyformat init, so you don't have to worry about getting CIA installation back onto your emuNAND.

I have a question (just a test to know if the sysnand.bin in the "Unbricked" folder works)...
In the OTP tutorial, at the section II (Downgrading), step 31 (restore your sysNAND from sysNAND.bin): If we restore that sysNAND.bin to Emunand instead of System Nand, is it normal if it's still bricked (black screen) in emunand?

Is it safe to perform this guide on a N3DS E with 9.0 firmware?, the guide assumes I have 9.2, so I was wondering if I should upgrade my sysnand or not, thanks for the answers
