They are always the same. And unique to your console.

If I have a pokemon y (updates to 6.1) and a ds mode flashcard (to run rxtools in 6.X mset) do I need to have backups of emunand and everything ? I should be able to go back again where necessary, yes?

You don't need to do the setup as you've previously done it as you've formatted the emunand

If you mean like a "new" 3ds setup no. It just downgrades and pretty much works. Straight off the bat.

It was never put in the guide it was shown a couple pages back. It uses the same url to load OTP though

I think he means that if you install 3DS firmware on a 2DS and then format the NAND, you will be softbricked because the 3DS initial setup requires you to slide the 3DS slider to the top, which the 2DS does not have.

If a 2DS gets downgraded below 7.x (or was it 6.x) then it would get stuck at the 3D test screen, cause the 2Ds doesn't have a 3D slider.

You don't need to do the setup as you've previously done it as you've formatted the emunand

You get your bricked 2.1 emunand but before that you format a 9.2 emunand so it goes through that setup first and then it uses that image to restore to sysnand

If you follow the tutorial to downgrade, no, you won't need to go through the setup process (if you don't format when downgraded).
