I once bought a Razer. I ended up getting 5 consecutive replacements before getting one which did not suffer from the left mouse button failing in less than 1-2 months.

Never again.

I picked up a logitech wireless mouse a day ago (needed a new mouse for a while), and I didn't need to install anything, the dongle takes care of the translation for me (shows up as HID-compliant). The side buttons automatically work as back/forward too.
