For the March 2011 release of OED Online, we have selected for publication a number of noteworthy initialisms—abbreviations consisting of the initial letters of a name or expression. Some of these -snip- are strongly associated with the language of electronic communications (email, texting, social networks, blogs, and so on). They join other entries of this sort: IMHO (‘in my humble opinion’) [IMHO at I n./1], TMI (‘too much information’) [TMI at T n.], and BFF (‘best friends forever’) [BFF at B n.], among others.

    -Oxford English Dictionary[/p]

Wassup? IMHO, I guess now my boss won't have a reason to OMG when I clock in late. I'll LOL at that fact. Since I don't wanna give TMI on why I was awake all night talking to my BFF.

For a full list of "new" words, Check the source.
Late news but no one submitted it yet. [IMG]

Old news but still interesting regardless.

IMHO, OMG and BFI shouldn't be words.
    TMI?

I thought they'd take in TMTH (too much to handle) but they got Too much information instead. But I myself never realised or knew about tmi being used.

    This is stupid.

This just gives people more of an excuse to use these abbreviations in real life, which I am not okay with.

    Warning: Spoilers inside!
They are not words and should not be added as words. Next they will start adding "y" "r" "2" and "U" as words [IMG]

I know, it's really quite sad. We can't even rely on natural selection to trim the herd any more because 'everyone's special'. My nephew's staying for the weekend and he's telling me about a little girl who visits his house every now and then, daughter of one of his mum's friends. She's nine years old and still pisses her pants. She goes to school in nappies. All because her mother is too stupid and ignorant to train her. I see people come in to the JJB store I work at buying shoes about four sizes too big for their feet because they're cheap. It makes me sick. There are days when I start to think I'm the only one left with a brain. Thankfully a few of my friends are pretty smart too which helps. Right until I get back to work and find that the high management team has decided that we need to rehang every item in the store so the hangers face right instead of left. 'Cause that makes all the difference, right?

    /rant.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to continue work on my novel, in the hope that it in some way contributes to the integrity of the written word instead of raping it like news like this.

    ..........Fuck.
I always criticise people when they use abbreviations (in speech), and now they have an excuse for it!
Who's idea was it to make them into official words?

this is a pain , it's bad enough i've seen people on television use words like Noob and Owned but now they're actually making them official . ugh . . . this is stupid .
