Hey all,

So I've had my Old 3DS since 2011 and it has been working like a charm years until sometime last year when my A Button became faulty. Most times when I press it I can hear a clicking sound when releasing it and nearly every time I need to press it my games and menus are unable to detect it unless I apply considerable to the Button. I have attempted to open the back of the console up but the screws on my console seemed to be screwed in extra tight as even with little force I have managed to destroy the head of one of them, therefore preventing me from opening the console up any further. I'm being put off from buying a new console as I have Custom Firmware and it is becoming extremely difficult to find original DS Flashcarts in order to regain custom firmware on a new system... Anyone have any ideas as to what to do?

Thanks.

You can drill off the heads of the screws you've broken... you really need the right screwdriver (JIS 00 or as a second choice a Phillips 00) and put A LOT of downward force to avoid any slipping!

Even once you get everything out, the actual button is SMD (tiny soldering!), which is probably a bigger annoyance than the screws :)

Pre-flashed ntrboot cards (you'll probably hate making one yourself without an A button, unless you recompile ntrboot-flasher to change the key assignments) don't appear to be at risk of running out on nds-card either, and there's the DSiware transfer method (which despite being worth less, is also cheaper)!

Remember, an A press is an A press, you can't have half of it
