(FIXED)- Got it working by using Menuhax and Julian's Sysupdater

Oh hey guys, i would not be normally posting this unless i have actually tried everything and believe me i have tried.

I am currently using an Old3ds on 10.3.0-28U FW and want to downgrade to the 9.2.0-20U. I have followed the guide on this site to the letter and cannot seem to get it to work.

I use the browserhax to enter the homebrew launcher and that works fine, the problem begins with the SysUpdater.

I am using the latest 4.2 v of the sysupdater and i keep getting the same error
FAILED TO GET CIA FILE INFORMATIONS. No matter how many times i try, i get the same thing.

I tried using the SafeSysUpdater, There i get a problem of
Failed to start AM:U service...
Press A key to exit.

Tried using Ftbrony,
It boots up fine, when i press B to exit...it always freezes at a red screen.

Tried using a different entry point, OOT3dhax because i have a copy of OOT,
Payload installs fine, i reboot, i turn on the game, i boot up the haxxxxxxxx save, i press any menu button to start the homebrew launcher, game freezes for a second, comes back to the 3ds home screen with a message box saying An error has occured in the game and has closed, system will reboot now.

I have the correct CIA downgrade files, its in updates folder, all other files are all in the right places. I don't know what to do anymore. AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.......(help).

Are you sure you installed the correct oot3dhax payload for you 3ds firmware? you could also install menuhax and try again with it. You can also try with this sysupdater version.

Trying to get it working on 10.3 was a pain and it requires a lot of attempts unless you have luck and get it to work in your first time.

You can also try to format your 3ds and start fresh

Follow this guide to downgrade, as sysupdater isn't very good

I installed a Windows XP ISO onto a VM and used a fake product key, as does everybody else, so my best bet is that it's either a false positive or Windows XP having terrible security.
  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
The product key generator could be tied to mailware like mentioned in the links
  • Kirbydogs @ Kirbydogs:
No, just found product keys in a list on archive.org
  • Kirbydogs @ Kirbydogs:
whatevs, Security removed it from my device

    There you go
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@K3Nv3, Cloud scanners often interpret machine learning to understand the inner workings of a program and checks to see if functionality compares to how malware operates. Hence why it's not always accurate and you get false positives such as W32.Wacatac.

It's interesting that the ISO came with the browser though, is it also pre-loaded with other stuff?
  • Kirbydogs @ Kirbydogs:
now, back to what I was doing last night: going insane because Firefox can't set the new tab page to your custom new tab page-- apparently as a security issue
  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
Yes that was also mentioned in the links I posted
  • Kirbydogs @ Kirbydogs:
@ZucchiniMaiden No no, it was a blank install of XP, I installed the software afterwords lol
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
I would not recommend using a product key generator to generate keys, you can find em on the internet relatively easy. And as for Windows XP keys, a certain GitHub page has them. :P

    Now, hmm...
  • Kirbydogs @ Kirbydogs:
Is there a Firefox feature in like maybe about:config to change the new tab page to the home page?
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Settings > Home > Change 'New Tabs' to anything.

"New Tabs" only has Firefox Home or Blank Page
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@K3Nv3, There's the Windows Genuine Advantage that got implemented in SP3 if I remember which checked the license of your Windows installation to see if the key was either pirated or whether it's been activated.

If you can't download windows directly from Microsoft always expect risks never know what user could leave out during re-upload

Unless you got a physical copy of a os which can be found at thrift shops
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Always expect risks on outdated versions of Windows, there's probably a dozen or more vulnerabilities for XP that haven't been patched after the EternalBlue exploit that got leaked from the NSA.

I get the retro vibe of it but he's using a vm worst case just right click delete kind of crazy not to be using up to date software if your system can handle it
