Here's the story, I bought an R4 from my friend and before he gave it to me he set up the moonshell program for me so all I had to do was pop it into my DS and play. After months of trolling through many forums I've been customizing my R4. (New themes, music player, movie player, emulators, etc.)

Then today I bought a Kingston 2gb Micro SD card just for the hell of it. (It was $23 bucks!! CHEAP!) After I got home I thought to myself.. how do I set this up so that's when I made this topic. So if someone could help me I would appreciate it. I just want to set my new Micro SD with the newest version of moonshell that's currently out right now. A little faq on setting it up would also be nice .

(assuming you plan to use both cards)
1. download the thing listed as kernel under http://www.r4ds.com/soft/17-en.htm
2. copy the contents of the .rar onto your new card
3. Press an "Easy" button
4. Smirk as you hear the button play "That was easy"
5. Pat yourself on the back
6. Suicide (optional)

You've had your R4 for months and don't even know about the system files :wtf:?

There is a sticky at the top of the R4 sub-forum here which can tell you exactly what you need. Each kernel update is done the same way, so it's the same set of steps

Thank you, perfect simple answer I was looking for.

    @Xdqwerty, Yeah, I'd recommend having another OS just in-case you want to play games.

    At least Linux doesn't contain spyware than what Windows has.

    @SylverReZ, cuz of lag?
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Xdqwerty, No. Whenever you use the internet on Windows, Microsoft collects personal data and installs bloatware that isn't necessarily needed, such as Edge.

    @SylverReZ,
    I recall @impeeza mentioned some trick about not having bloatware when installing windows where you set up your country to "world" or smh like that

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    Yes, you can debloat the operating system, but in some cases for me it just reinstalls them.

    @SylverReZ,
    I also recall my brother downloded a "non bloated" version of windows 11 on his pc

    @Xdqwerty yes, when you are installing Windows on the first steps you are asked for your current location, you MUST to select «international» so no bloatware is installed, because the bloatware is location based. if this night I have some time I will setup a VM and take screenshots.

    This one lady... her son kept installing Kazaa... OK no problem the issue is he would download DBZ movies and they where amazing usually like 2-8KB in size lol can't remember how many times I had to format and reinstall windows over his stupidity. I even explained to him about file sizes multiple times...
