I would like to add, Well done review, but i just typed my opinion
The wode is an easy to instal mod, still you have to know how to open a wii and need to detache and reconnect cables.
My opinion also is, ppl who are afraid of softmodding, will also not open there wii to install a modchip
(I know, i'm better with hardware, then software, i would
)
Anyway, we don't know what the future on softmodding will bring us, same as we don't know what N will do to prevent softmodding/hardmodding
Wode is one of the better (but more expensive) solutions, but you have to open your wii
Softmod is free but you have to mess with your IOS
Ah, whatever, the point is, just do what you think is the best for you
In the end, when you install WODE, you will ending with also softmodding your Wii, why? because there is TriiForce and Sneek, HBC and all those great emulators (waiting for the next Wii64 emu that can rune GoldenEye!), then you end up with trying USBLoaders like usbloader GX, configurable usb loader or Wiiflow, using your WODE only for GC iso's
, waiting for a FW update that brings options not available to softmodders or options better in wode then softmod if ever?.
I only wanna say, think before you act, look at + and - of both and go with the option you want, if it's only wii and gc backups over usb and nothing else, wode is great
If you wanna go to the homebrew stuff, just softmod your wii
I did a small test, with all my SD carts ready, a clean wii is softmodded as fast as installing a Wode, that is HBC and the needed stuff to get started.
Like said, i ended up installing Wode and after some testing also softmodded it, like my other wii (Launch) is modded with YAOSM and later softmodded, making the modchip useless.
