Hacking Ocarina in gamma not working for me in Godfather

I just tried to use wiird codes for the Godfather, but they do not work. I tried using the original Ocarina, the Cheat Code Manager for Wii, and none work. When gamma boots, it says cheats detected, applying, but they do not work in game. Any ideas? I tried naming them various things, maybe its the way i name the text file? I'm no sure, plz help.

Quick answer, make sure cheats are same region as game, and that hooktype is set to vi.
