Hacking o3ds 5.1.0 mset/update issue

Hey guys

Just a quick one (hopefully)

Been following the helpful guides and i have managed to get a cfw running on my o3ds, have nands and emunands and cia's all working etc

The problem im having is trying to do a method that lets me boot to emunand/rxtools without the internet....


Ive tried a few methods to try and get Mset to work, downgraded mset to 4.0 with fbi, rxtools.... Which seemed to do nothing when i went to load DS profile, i have made a slight progress in that the 3ds now crashes if i try and access the DS Profile




Option 2:

RXTools pasta/Dev mode..... (v3 and 2.5.2 or something like that?)

When i try and load either of these modes to try and update the sysnand, they just remain at a black/blank screen and nothing happens


Im hoping someone might be able to help out?

Then install menuhax. I suggest switching to Luma3DS once that's done since rxTools is rather outdated now.

Id like to update it to 9.2 for menu hax but when i try to load either Dev Mode or Pasta Mode in RXTools, it just hangs at a black/blank screen

As far as im aware i should only really do the system update in one of those modes?

I have heard of this issue before but it's strange as there should be nothing that could cause dev/pasta mode to black screen.
You can try downgrading to 4.x using the Gateway launcher.dat and downgrade pack from their site with the browser exploit (http://go.gateway-3ds.com) and see if that fixes Pasta Mode/Dev Mode.
You can also try using PastaCFW to downgrade but for that you would need to get the DS Profile Exploit working first: https://gbatemp.net/attachments/launcher-mset-exploit-gw-blue-pasta-cfw-zip.19359/
You have multiple ways to install the DS profile exploit:
Either the browser way using https://gbatemp.net/threads/beta-spider-ds-profile-roploader-4-x-only.380725/
Or you can use FBI
Or you can use a NDS flashcart with the .nds ROP installer (either Gateway's one or a homebrew one)
One of these ought to work but you have to make sure you're installing the right ROP (there's the 4.x ROP which loads encrypted launcher.dat (Gateway), there's a ROP for decrypted launcher.dat (some homebrew uses this but usually when you see the name launcher.dat it's encrypted), there's a 6.x ROP and there are custom ROPs that load other .dat files), if you use the wrong one it will just crash/freeze. The PastaCFW I linked should be using an encrypted launcher.dat.

Anyway the first thing I would suggest is to downgrade using the Gateway launcher since 5.x is kind of an odd firmware and might not be supported by everything. I'm not sure if PastaCFW will work on it for example but I know Pasta will work on 4.x. 4.x was the only firmware range supported by hacks for a long time so there's pretty robust support for it.

Downgraded to 4.x and ds profile exploit works so simple and annoying....i know i should update and just do a menuhax but one step at a time
