Oh ok cool beans then. I was thinking that I had to download some type of BIOS file in order for the VMU to work properly. Thanks for helping me out.

But also, I see you guys talking about Daytona USA. When I. Try that game it takes me to the BIOS. When I select disc it gives me the "Put a disc in and close the top" message. How are you all getting that game to run?

CDI or GDI ? EU or USA ?

NullDC seems more strict for files

Tried both US and EU, both were CDI format.

Edit: Ah. I tried a GDI US version and it worked. This problem has been solved.

And I'm so sorry for another question. Every time the emulator boots, it's automatically saved as Fullscreen as a default. How can I set it to where Original is default? It's annoying having to change it every time. Thanks for all of your help.

There is a game_preset.cfg file but it's mostly the emulators one, since I'm re-changin it often it won't save your parameters. I plan to make a custom game_preset of defaut config, but that's not the emergency for now. I have Claude Code for 1 month and it's better for me to use it to fix bugs & visual for now

Is 4/3 ratio working ib every game I remember it doesn't work on Shenmue 1

EDIT : I'll try to add a default config in game_preset in next version

I've never been able to use game_presets.cfg on the Real hardware, path seems different. This needs investigation from me.

I wonder how much is programmed by AI and how much by xale007 himself, in percent?

98% by AI since the fork from the original work of SKMP (original NullDC author)

I just reorganise a bit the comment/code/names because everytime AI is doing too much comment. Sometime I test some algorythm myself to see what's the best things to do

SKMP also helped a bunch and has done stuff on his side, mostly helped by AI (on sound/ARM and Dynarec)

don't worry, I guess I had to add that to the FAQ

1rst step is to format the VMU in bios for sure.

Then you need to exit properly the emulator (+ and -)

Just test your favorite games and try to find the best setting for each game. Then put yoru findings it in the compatibility wiki.

Defaut settings should work for 90% of games.

You can boost FPS with FPS_BOOST (but it removes ALPHA/transparency) and also faster CACHE option if that doesn't make the game too janky.
The emulator doesn't support Wii U Pro Controller (as Wii Classic Controller is not supported yet), so that is limiting in my case, batteries for the Wiimote died mid-testing and couldn't do much.

What I could test:
  • Clock settings are not being saved. I even went through the BIOS first to format the VMU and set the clock, but the clock reminder is still bothering all the time. Is this fixable?
  • Individual game settings are not being saved after launching the game, which makes it a chore. Fixable?
Games I could run for some minutes:
  • Capcom vs. SNK - Millennium Fight 2000 PRO (Japan) (GDI). Very slow, mostly normal graphics.
  • Capcom vs. SNK - Millennium Fight 2000 PRO (Japan) (CDI). Very slow, mostly normal graphics.
  • Capcom vs. SNK 2 - Millionaire Fighting 2001 (Japan) (CDI). Very slow, scrambled 2D sprites.
  • Marvel vs. Capcom 2 - Abyss (USA) (CDI). Very Slow, mostly normal graphics.
  • Marvel vs. Capcom 2 - Insanity Remix (USA) (CDI). Not running, goes to bios.
  • Marvel vs. Capcom 2 - New Age of Heroes (USA) (CDI). Very Slow, mostly normal graphics.
  • Marvel vs. Capcom 2 - New Age of Heroes (USA) (GDI). Very Slow, mostly normal graphics.
  • Street Fighter III 3rd Strike Remix (USA) (CDI). Medium speed, scrambled 2D sprites.
  • Street Fighter III Offline Edition (USA) (CDI). Medium speed, scrambled 2D sprites.
Always used GRAPHICS LOW and RATIO ORIGINAL. 2D FRAMEBUFFER could be NO or YES, but didn't make any difference in these games.
  • ChuChu Rocket (USA) (CDI). Medium speed, mostly normal graphics.
  • Dolphin Blue (GDI). Medium speed, mostly normal graphics.
  • Mortal Kombat Gold (USA) (CDI). FMVs are completely black and slow to skip, but gameplay is Medium speed. This one surprised me the most, it runs decent and graphics seem 100% fine.
  • Nanatsu no Hikan (Japan) (GDI). Medium speed, mostly normal graphics.
  • Pen Pen TriIcelon (Japan) (CDI). Medium speed, mostly normal graphics.
  • REZ (PAL) (GDI). Not running, locks the emulator.
  • REZ (PAL) (CDI). Not running, locks the emulator.
  • REZ (NTSC-PAL) (CDI). Not running, goes to bios.
  • Virtua Tennis (USA) (CDI). Medium speed, mostly normal graphics and some 3D glitches.
  • Volgarr (Stable) (CDI). Medium speed, mostly normal graphics.
Always used default settings.

nullDCWii 0.45. Will likely test it again when the emulator is more mature. It was weirdly funny to run Dreamcast stuff on the Wii.

Hello ^^,

Even if I prefer the Wii U GamePad, I agree with you (the batterie of the Wii U controller pro has an 80-hour battery life), but it seems to me that if someone knows how to implement this, then @Xale007 is in favor of that person making it.
I hope one day someone will make that ^^.

Have a good day ^^,

Yo uare testing on Wii U right ?

- Normaly the clock is setup once only. I have this kind of problem once, but I think you need to quit correctly the emulator for not asking again. Also it must be allowed write on SD because it save your bios file (dc_flash_wb.bin)

- That's normal, it's not how it is supposed to be done. Normally you have a pre-configured game_presets.cfg file that should be loaded with some pre-configuration (based on my experience, and also yours). This file should theorically be in sd:/data on a real console, but I'll move it to sd:/discs/ in the next version

I should dig more into those 2D fighting games.

Scrambled graphic usually is a problem with CACHE or 4BPP/8BPP. I'll try to make more accurate presets for those games. If thhe graphism runs nice in CACHE_QUALITY, that's the way to go but you'll experience FPS dropwon

I should check Mortal Kombat... Sometimes movies only display in CMBR... Maybe I should make that default then...

Yeah I know about Rez, we have some updaded in the pipes that make in runnable... but not more it seems... We'll see.. keep an eye on the compatibility wiki.

Thanks for your test and please put that into the compatibility, that will help everybody :

No. I don't even have one.

I always get out of the emulator correctly. As stated by your post:
Then you need to exit properly the emulator (+ and -)
Still no correct clock, and will always ask. If SD card wasn't allowed to write, I couldn't add games to it, or save settings in other emulators.

Reason I ask is precisely because of the existence of game_presets.cfg, which should in theory store all the values for every single game you load, in order to keep the correct settings for individual games, until the day that is not needed anymore.

Also, no FPS counter, which makes it tough to compare speed improvements with future versions. I tried activating it in the nulldc cfg, but it doesn't work.

This file should theorically be in sd:/data on a real console, but I'll move it to sd:/discs/ in the next version
You could have them generated neatly inside the nulldc app folder, something like "profiles"

mmm strange for the clock.. maybe it's not the same bios version I'm using :

dc_flash.bin : CRC32 : C611B498
dc_boot.bin : CRC32 : 89F2B1A1

Do you see dc_flash_wb.bin in your folder also ?

game_presets.cfg is read only. You can change the file manually by opening it in a tex editor. The idea here is for when a game is tested, I'll add those presets along the game and ship it with the emulator.

For example I just tested Samba de Amigo, that game ABSOLUTELY NEEDS TRANS_SORT for menu to be seen. CACHE_VERY_FAST also work without glitches and add +50 FPS, so yeah.

What I seek in testing by you guys for now is :

- Is the game runnable
- What parameters is absolutely necessary to make it work (just swap all the parameters at once and switch to CACHE_QUALITY) when you find the correct parameters, put it in the wiki
- What CACHE presets we can go as low without making the game completly broken. Some games accepts CACHE_VERY_FAST, some not.

Then add that to wiki and I'll update game_presets

Yep, CRCs match. I don't mind testing again in the future, but again, the emulator is tied to Wiimote only, so that is very limiting. I'll check it again when it has Gamecube controller support or, better yet, Wii U Pro Controller support.

Having it save a cfg file for the game, would allow to just change one setting at a time until any game is working faster/better, and it also wouldn't need for every single setting to be modified every time you enter and try loading again, bypassing dependency to wiki updates and the cfg, which could be shared back here by individual users.

I need to think about that, there is a lot of possibilities.

If I make 1 file/game I will then have a tons of file to manage

If I let the user save, then it would be difficult to have a "standard behavior" config to compare

Regression hunt is the most important thing in this emulator

And since we all have the same console, we can easily agree on what's the best setting for each game.

The only thing is how to manage WiiU... maybe a different game_preset.cfg ? not sure

Anyway alpha 0.46 is out with some changes for the preset file, please check changelog

in some cases you'll need to tweak anyway depending how where/how you play the game

Daytona split screen makes FPS -20% for example

Shenmue need CACHE to QUALITY (Maybe NORMAL, not sure) to bypass the intro when he enters the garden

Just add first the Gamecube and Classic controller support as Niuus suggested to the NooDS-Wii programmer earlier.
"When you add the Wii Classic Controller support, it should gain Wii U Pro Controller support, as per libogc compatibility."
Otherwise it would be difficult to test the games further and help you to polish it.

Hello ^^,

GameCube controller works, but not the Wii Classic Controller, I use a Wii U, it's impossible for me to use a GameCube controller and it'll be more confortable with Wii Classic Controller...
I think about Seta-gx which supports Wii Classic Controller, but it's impossible to use Wii U classique controller, isn't it?

@Xale007 Thank you for the new release! ^^. The preset LIMITER_FPS, the new preset PG_POLY makes work perfectly the game Who wants to be a millionnaire" (except for the sound which is metalic again).
I must try others games ^^.

Have a good day ^^,

What ? Really ??!?

Ok I will add a specific controller options screen also before starting the game then and implement classic controller. I think I have one to plug to the wiimote

Later I will also add mapping for classic controller trough Blueretro since I have one for gamecube
