Apple noobish iPhone jailbreaking question

I have an old 3GS I'd like to jailbreak. It's on 6.1.6, and it seems the way to go is with p0sixpwn.

My iTunes is on ver 12. Does this mean I have no choice but to downgrade it? Doesn't downgrading mean I have to delete my iTunes folder, thus losing my covers, playlists, etc? Is there a way to avoid doing that?

Everything is utterly useless I'm afraid. This is not the way to go. There's no way to jailbreak a 6.1.6 3GS without a PC as far as I can tell.

So back to my original question:
