Hacking Noob Question: R4 from Hong Kong

hey everyone. im a newb to this forum and to r4.

i recently picked up a r4 from hong kong. i know there are many versions out there but the packaging looks a little different from the ones i see online. i was wondering if anyone can tell me if its the real deal or not. thanks in advance!

The box front looks the same compared to mine but I don't have a sticker. The back is different. My R4DS Functionality stops at "Supports the Soft Reset." As for the stuff inside, I got a cd, blue plastic case, usb reader (silver+black), and the R4.

hmm.. it looks real to me. if it works with the r4 firmware and you have no problems then you should be set.

i remember reading that the fake ones had internal memory and didn't say anything about microSD on the box.

On a second look through, there does seem to be something fishy. My USB reader has the "SD" underneath the "Micro." You have it right next to each other. I'm just pointing that out.

I bought it in person when i was in Hong Kong. The rep said it was the real deal and the sticker on the box is an authenticity sticker w/ a 1 year warranty. She used the r4 on a ds and it worked fine.

do all r4s come with a warranty? makes me wonder if its gonna last that long. I also noticed the 'microsd' logo on the bottom corner. it looks generic compared to the official logo, which makes me question its authenticity.

There's no fake R4 out there. They change suppliers for microsd readers often too. They used to have a supplier of faulty readers and a lot of people were having problems. I think my M3 Simply might have one either that or I was having problems with my usb card in my p3 again. The solid color readers like yours are suppose to work fine. I wouldn't worry at all about this product's authenticity.

maybe it's a more newer model of the R4 ... what firmware does it have?
Maybe it's the reason the R4 is delayed at the moment (just a hunch)
As u can see there is action replay support and also DLDI so maybe they have made this like i believe the last release so they started a whole new batch
Okay so confirmed it's 1.10 atleast but does it have Download play support cuz it's not said so as full support but also in 1.11 it had soft-reset support improved so maybe i am guessing it's 1.10 but could be also 1.11
Bottomline dude I think it's a more recent then all others

I assume it's 1.10, seeing as it states it has DLDI auto-patching, and it was implemented in that firmware revision.

yeah mate. that looks fine. i bought one from a shop in hong kong about a week ago. yours looks exactly the same as mine. i got it from the golden computer arcade at sham shui po.

I shall let you know how my one looks tomorrow, it should be the latest version - and may have that sticker.

the only thing that seems fishy to me is the sticker =/
i read somewhere that fake r4s are being shipped with those kinds of stickers.. but those came with internal memory, like someone said before..

the back is probably because of the update, also like someone said xD

anyways, if it works fine im sure i'ts real

NO sticker.

Same back - with new features

new MicroSD logo, same as the one pictured here.

so unless my one is a fake as well, that's what the latest box looks like.
