I haven't been connected to the HB scene for a while, so pardon my super basic question. I'm buying a cart version of Monster Hunter (US) tomorrow and I'd like to play it on my Japanese N3DS. I have two (J)N3DSes (one at firmware 9.something, and one at firmware 11.0.0) and I wouldn't mind using either of them. I don't really care *how* I achieve region free, but I'd need to be able to play the game online.

Could anyone help me out?

Would I be able to play the game online even if my emuNAND is, like, 9.something? And if not, is there a way to update emuNAND to the current firmware to allow online play?

you can just update the emunand to the latest with system settings

(This question may be irrelevant, so forgive me...) One of my (U)N3DSes uses a gateway, and I set up emunand through that. If I update with the system settings (while in emunand of course) will I still be able to use my GW?
