Downgraded but still no change, will try from another source, thanks for the help

Edit: Got it working, someone had patched it from PAL to NTSC and I had to change the video settings

One last question, which default setting is better with Configurable USB loader 222 or 223?

Thanks to Joostin for letting me know to use v4 instead of v5

Glad you got it fixed.
I prefer to use 224 as the default, because it is slightly faster. It doesn't have the compatibility of v4 though. If 224 doesn't work (games that use WiiSpeak won't work), try falling back to 223 or 222.

I used to use WiiFlow from the homebrew channel, launching it on my SD card, but now I installed WiiFlow as a channel.

When I run WiiFlow as a channel without an SD card, it always says to plug the USB HD into port 0, even if I replug it in, but it doesn't do that if I run it from the homebrew channel with an sd card =(.

How can I get WiiFlow as a channel to work without an SD card so that it won't keep giving me the usb port error :3? Cuz my bro wants to borrow my Wii :3

what wiiflow versions are you working with for the SD and the channel, what cIOS are you running on for each and what base, and what file system are you using?

without that info and taking a complete guess, i would say that your channel version is outdated and not compatible with the cIOS or the file system....

maybe it's just me, but i've never liked running loaders from the NAND.... you could either borrow your SD card out with your wii or just buy another one (they're super cheap nowadays)... or...set up your Wii/HBC to launch your loaders/apps from the HDD.... if it's the HBC you don't want him to have to go into to launch it, just install a forwarder channel (the official one would be best...or the generic one from Modmii works great too!)....

Ok,
So 2 Questions both Noobish

1) Someone told me that there is now a way to play disks on the drives that "previiously" would not read backups?
I Know, this is BS correct?

2) How can I make it so I can play my backups straight from the Disk Loader Chanel instead of using GX or Flow?
(of course this would be on a Wii that can read disks...

Sorry for question 1, but I promised I would ask...

I Know, this is BS correct? if by "priiviously" you mean it is a newer wii with a D3-2 drive or greater, then yes, it's complete BS....

DarkCORP 1.1 (i have it installed and have zero issues, but most around here don't have a favorable opinion about it)

Thanks Brausm08!

ok, so DarkCORP...

Pros & Cons?
I found DarkCORP 1.0 lite, where is 1.1 located?

DarkCORP 1.1 ...this is a wiihacks post; look for the auto-respond email address at the bottom of post #1 or in post #4...(similar to the 'modify any wii' thread). the 'lite' version will work if you have the wii connected to the internet....the 'full' version is for offline installs and will be significantly faster.

PRO: play back-ups via disc channel with arguably better compatibility than playing from NG, or any loader

CON: modifies nearly all IOS (making them cIOS). it can be dangerous as it leaves the IOS vulnerable to corruption during the install process....especially dangerous during the patching/installing of the SM IOS (this is obviously safer if you have Bootmii/boot2). you may run into issues with HBC turning upside (in which case you want to install a clean IOS58). if you install it and want to get rid of it, DO NOT DELETE anything! just overwrite with a up-to-date IOS pack from Modmii or the 'modify any wii' thread.... if there ever is a Ninty update which adds IOS for yet-to-be-made games, this DC1.1 will be obsolete for such games; you will then have to await a DC1.2 (which may never come) or patch the new IOS manually....

*hopefully you or i don't get chastized to badly for promoting DC*

I have a weird problem. Whenever I use syscheck, it freezes when it's trying to check ios9 and when I use dop-mii to do a system check, it freezes after checking ios28. How do I fix this?

Edit: nvm, Joostin helped me. Thanks

Hey guys, having an issue that I can't seem to Google. When I launch the NES emulator from the Homebrew channel (FCE Ultra GX) I can load the games but when I select a game (latest attempt Contra) I can use the Wiimote until it comes to moving the dudes, in which case the Wiimote doesn't work at all.

It was crashing at one point (black screen, white text) but I removed the flag, now it doesn't crash but the Wiimotes still aren't functional.

Any fix for this problem? We were playing a ton the other night and I haven't done anything further to my SD card until the problem started and I removed the flag.

OS 4.3u

Thanks for any help.

A friend of mine wanted to install a modchip in his Wii. Problem is, the modchip isn't compatible. The Wii has a LEF203xxxxxxx serial number (and he has the wrong modchip for that).

Now, I would normally recommend softmodding it and running everything from USB. However, since he doesn't want to put much effort in it and it's just for his kids I'm not sure this is the right thing to do since loading from USB invariably means fiddling with settings, updating the occasional IOS for better compatibility, etc.

Basically, my question is this: if I softmod a Wii with a channel to play backup discs, what is the difference to having a modchip for the user?

Will I have to worry about updating IOS fixes occasionally as if I were using a USB loader?

If so I think I'd best just look for a working modchip.

i'd go forward with a softmod... Softmod >>>> Hardmod. the only hardmod which would have value would be a WODE (which offers USB loading) and maybe a SUNDriver.... however, the cost of a hardmod is way more expensive than the small donation to XFlak for using Modmii

softmodding doesn't require much effort at all now that Modmii exists. ...and you can do so much more than just play wii games from discs. now that we're in the twilight years of the Wii's life cycle, i would doubt there's going to be any games released that will require yet-to-be developed cIOSes or cIOSes built on a non-standard (or non-existent) bases.... and with compatibility at where it is now, i don't think there's going to be any groundbreaking developments which will require updating a softmod (and if there is, they have you to keep tabs on that for them, right?)

QUOTE(admiralsfan @ May 21 2011, 10:59 AM) How do I install a cios? Like cios rev 21, where can I download it, and how do I install it?
dragbe's installer for v21d2x4

...or you can use modmii and have it build them for you for an offline install....link in my sig

Ok, long time Wii hacker here with some questions. Up to this point I've always used CFG USB Loader and it's perfectly handled everything I needed it to. As present I run all my Wii games from CFG. I run all my homebrew apps (emulators and apps (like WiiXplorer, etc.) from CFG. I also wish I could run Wiiware from CFG (or rather I guess boot to Triiforce which would load them). Well here's my thing; Is triiforce used anymore? Would I be better off switching to sneek/uneek/whatever + or not + DI? I mean I read bits and pieces about that and how it uses and emulated nand.

Basically I currently can run all my Wii games very easily with CFG and I love CFG for it's constant updates, look, and ability to lock it down for family friendly usage. With everything else I use (when available) .iso forwarders to launch other apps like all the Wii menu channels, the emulators, etc. Those work but are becoming harder and harder to come by because all I ever find is channel forwarders and not .iso forwarders.

At present I have no means of running WiiWare/VC but I would like a means to do so. Going forward what's the best means to be able to continue to launch all my favorite apps/channels/WiiWare/VC all from one screen? I assume this involves sneek/uneek? Is there a way I could add these new options while continuing to use CFG? Where do I begin?

If it helps I have a 2TB hard drive; one 50gb FAT32 partition for homebrew apps and the rest is an NTFS partition with my Wii games stored in a wbfs folder. If it also helps I at one point started out with a clean nand dump and between then and now I've slowly added any and all WiiWare/VC games I found interesting.

I'm sure someone out there can help me, and I'd be much appreciative of whoever is willing to step in and help.

Hi, I've modded my Wii some year and a half ago using the instructions from this guide.
Back then, it wasn't possible to use the DVD drive or restore bricked Black wii from backup. I'm wondering if anything has changed recently and what do I have to do to keep up to date.

Its still impossible to load backup discs on a black wii or and new wii since the drive itself wont load them, has nothing to do with software. But I'm sure a lot has been updated since you last softmodded. Modmii is the newest best way to softmod your wii. Its a computer program that based on the questions you answer will download all the files you would need to softmod your wii safely (of course there is always a chance you could brick your wii softmodding it). The files modmii use are kept up-to-date with the newest stable versions. So I'd suggest you check out the modmii thread and give it a read.

Thanks, Ryoku83, for quick response. One more question though - heard about SNEEK and it sound like a definitive version of softmod. I read about Pros for this thing, but I'm wondering if there are Cons and why doesn't everybody use it? or do they?

Well i've never used it so I can't say for sure. But it seems that nand emulations works good for people that play a lot of wiiware/ vc games. By using the emulation instead of your wiis memory you can hold many more games since it limited to the size of your hdd instead of the wii small size. I don't play wiiware games or vc games so I find that since I haven't had any issues with usb loading I have no reason to try sneek. "Don't fix whats not broken" right?
tongue.gif

I think another Pro of it is the games work like they play from the disc channel so your not limited by your cIOS'. But then again i've never had any issues with my softmod playing games. But perhaps I just haven't ran into the problems games. I see lots of people coming here looking for help with games black screening or freezing on certain games that I haven't had any issues with.

Im sure some other people that use it could tell you the other pros and cons of it.

SNEEK/UNEEK+DI has (near) perfect compatibility, and games like metroid prime trilogy work perfectly.
The reason more people dont use it is because it is more difficult to set up/use than a regular USB loader. And it doesn't work with WBFS (yet)
