I've got a Wii which my friend attempted the mod / upgraded it however I got it downgraded back to 3.2 & got starfall running on it yeah I took the easy way out... Didn't have time to catch up w/ latest newest mods maybe someday later on I will however right now it seems the nusd downloader isn't liking the key.bin from that unit.. It keeps on saying - (PS: Your common key isn't hashing right! when I fire up the NUSD downloader up. I've googled & searched for a solution to this issue with no luck at all! Also Another question... If I were to take my NAND off my v3.2 Starfall Modded Unit less than 64+ same goes for the other Wii as well and just restore it with another Wii's Keys.bin would it work correctly? Or Brick?

Thanks In advance!!!

if u want to restore a different wii's nand look into betwiin, but its NOT recommended

there are many apps out there that can create a common-key.bin for you... CRAP, showmiiwads etc. just copy and paste the new key into your nus downloader directory

Alright thanks for the pointers man!

on a 4.0 or 4.1 wii, is there ayway to update the nintendo channel and/or shop channel without..yknow, screwing it to 4.2?

I'm having a problem with New Super Mario Bros. Wii on USB Loader GX. I put the patched ISO in my drive and then when I start up the game it's black and white and the screen keeps shaking. Does anybody know if there is a way to fix this? (BTW if you need to my firmware it's 3.2 on an american wii)

Go to settings and force video mode to NTSC.

This sounds pretty bad for a first post but..

I have a Korean Wii with the region changed to US and System Menu 3.2. It also had cIOSCORP v1 I think. I bought it this way from someone.

I got myself pretty confused when I installed the latest cIOSCORP v3.5, it half-bricked when the System Menu refused to load with an error I cannot remember. Thankfully my instincts told me to install preloader before I upgraded to v3.5 so I managed to get into HBC and WAD Manager from there. I re-installed the original IOS30 so System Menu could boot.

Later I realised the Disc Channel wouldn't detect any backups I've inserted, so (logically) I went to install CIOS30 from v1.

Now Disc Channel works, but my question is, what happened? Is it safe to run my Wii this way?

There used to be a list somewhere on which cIOS is running in which IOS slot with what hacks (and how bad that idea was), but so far the list only exists for v3.5. With that list I can at least make an educated guess on what happened. Why didn't CIOS30 from v3.5 work?

Yes Sir it was.
all you had to do was hold reset and load the HBC from preloader and reinstall preloader and it would have fixed your problem happens every time you reinstall the IOS preloader is running on but is a simple fix

I see. Silly me, going a big round to fix this. And there I was, thinking preloader saved my ass!

Thanks!

usb-loader blocks updates, as they are designed to start in the disk channel.

P.S. yes, to be honest, they load much faster!

Thank you, I'm very happy to hear this. But I just realized another thing: power supply.

Do I have to use 3.5" external HDD that has to be plugged into current socket or can I use 2.5" external disk that uses USB cable for powering itself?

I plan to buy 2.5" disk, but if it won't work, please warn me about it

patch ios36? installed cios249?

Hey y'all
I have been hacking my wii to be able to use and USB harddrive on my Wii by using guides on this forum. I have done all the steps up to the USB loader, except Preloader and the DOP-IOS Mod, and now when I start my wii I come to the BootMii menu, but none of my wii-motes respond to the console. THey cant seem to communicate with one another. I keep trying to "scan" with the red buttons but I have little success.

Maybe I have to tell you that when I was supposed to delete the 222, 223, 249, and 250 IOS's before installing a cIOS, I couldnt find any of the IOSes in the AnyTitle Deleter MOD. But the guides said that it was nothing to worry about. Does this have to do with it? Have I bricked it? xD

Any hints or suggestions is gladly embraced. Thanks in advance.

Edit: Oh and btw, I have 4.2
