Hacking no gateway, what can we do?

I'm hoping to make this a thread for discussion of what is possible to do with a 3ds(xl) that is under firmware 9.3, and having no gateway card (but still able to install the Nintendo Ds profile exploit). I noticed that updating emunand usually breaks it, unless I'm doing something wrong?

I read at least the first 4-5 lines before I realized what this was.
