so today I checked out metroid prime if its somehow possible to get it widescreen and after searching around the internet for 4 hours and then doing some address searches for 3 hours I got from this:
mpnorm.jpg

to this:
mpwide.jpg

now note that so far it still is far from completion and it was done via some very hardcoded addresses but still, I think its a good start.

Should I?
the wiki you linked says
If an NTSC signal is detected and the component cable is connected, the "Progressive Scan" dialog will appear instead of the "60 Hz / 50 Hz Select" dialog.

so i think you need to force ntsc and have wiiu hdmi connected to see the question.

Okay thanks, I'll give it a go and get back to you a.s.a.p.

BTW I'm on Wii with component cable and not vWii.
same thing as long as its capable of outputting 480p and that 480p or higher its selected on the wii options, nintendont will say that an component cable is connected.

I'm sorry to nitpick and I know I'm going to piss a lot of people but is it more important to get a game to work on real widescreen that already have an official widescreen port than fixing some of the remaining games that still don't work properly? I'm sorry but I just don't see why it's important to many to have widescreen support, I mean even most Wii games don't have widescreen support!

what do you mean? every game should work like it should except gtcube which fix has already putted alot of trys and couldnt find the timer.

So you want fix to dedicate all his attention to gtcube? he already gave it alot of hours but the game just doesnt seem cooperative, its not like he is forgetting the last game, now if you know more broken games that dont work besides gtcube then go ahead and say it as long as they arent betas and proto versions.

Used VIDEO: FORCE NTSC and it allowed me to activate Progressive mode. I'll remember that one. Thankyou!

No problem im glad it worked, but remenber only those 7 pal games have the native progressive support. The Rest of the games with native progressive support are all ntsc only.

Also dont forget to take off the force ntsc option for your other pal games, becuase most pal games dont like being forced ntsc so dont forget when switching games to change the forced video.

There's also the noise in Midway Arcade Treasures 2, and a couple of games were reported to not support real MC as they black screen on start up, also speaking of which are there no plans to implement Bios with real MCs? I know not many people use them but still to me this is more important than widescreen which I know I'll never use, honestly my computer screen is set to 4:3 in a 16:9 monitor with black bars on the sides, it doesn't bother me.

A few months ago, myself and few other members created such a form for people to follow but sadly not many people used it. It contained basic info like console you were using and region, video cables, Nintendont version, game name and region, controller being used, how the game is being loaded, Memory Card type, storage media being use, etc. I was getting tired of people just saying that game X didn't work without giving ANY other info as even the smallest thing could affect game compatibility. I remember how some games would work on Wii but not Wii U and the time when WiiConnect24 caused game freezing.

Yeah, that's what form I'm talking about. I got Cyan to put it in the OP under Game Compatibility
I mean there is always gray areas where we will help noobs w/o referring them to read the OP even if the details may already be in the OP.
I would not copy and paste the form as I can always refer users to read the OP
I can understand a gray area. By copy and paste I meant that the people that need help should.

just because it doesnt bother you doesnt mean it doesnt bother everyone else.

So widescreen isnt important but bios support with real MC is?Lol that is your opinion im preety sure most ppl would have the oposite one, and fix already said to make the bios work he does some nasty exi patching wich wouldnt work with real MCs i think on a post he even said it is probably not doable if you search this thread, its not a matter of enabling bios with real MCs or not, its a matter that the bios uses code that breaks real mcs functions.

Both the midway noise and the power puff girl no sound in cutscenes are things fix looked into but said those games used an sound encodding that isnt on the sdk so fix would have to basicaly make a huge chunk of investigating and reverse engeniring and make a full DSP patch just for those games to get those sounds working which would take alot of work thats why he hasnt made it and probably wont.

after cleaning up the patch and adding a patch which prevents object clipping on the screen sides here you go, have fun testing:
-added a widescreen patch for both metroid prime 1 and 2, please note that I did not test it 100% so I cant say for sure that it works perfectly at all times

I actually prefer the Wii version. I think the Wiimote makes it easier to play. Anyway now maybe some people will stop complaining if this works good. Way to go FIX94.

so I played mp1 for the first time now for 44 minutes and this game appears to be endlessly big so far, so many areas to explore heh. I didnt encounter any graphical glitches or cut off parts with the widescreen patch yet so all appears to be stable and good.

How do I activate it?
