Haha, way to advert your favorite USB loader, seriously though, don't....please...
This is a totally unrelated and unneccesary post.

I use both, but since Usb loader gx is broken I've suggested CFG because it is working fine with latest versions. Say the same for Abdallah...

i have 2 mad cats mem card one 4x and one 32x and they both work fine in nintendont and i can access everiting no matter if it comes from my game cube back in the day my wii in gc mode or nintendont

I don't need to format my memory card either it's a no-name 3rd party one so it must be something on your end
Using a unofficial memory card I had for backup fixed my problem. For some reason you cannot use a official memory card with nintedont and a regular gamecube at the same time otherwise you will have to format it to nintendont format eveytime. Thank you everyone for the suggestions and fixes.:)

Thankfully I also have a 4x madcats memory card too so I can finally play my games without having to format eveytime I am using nintendont.

backup the memory card as raw using gcmm(Keep a master copy somewhere in case this doesn't work)
format to nintendont format, backup to raw again
load up the raw images in dolphin gc memory card manger
transfer the save images from the first backup to the nintendont formatted backup. After your done transfer the raw image to the memory card and it should start working.
If you're using separate saves for each game remember to create a save file, format successfully, save, then using dolphin delete the new created save (inside of the raw file) and do the transfer, you have to do this which each game, I know it's tedious but that's the only way.

Okay so being a user of USBloader gx I am getting that issue, so I guess I will have to wait till usbloader is updated to play games again. I tried starting the nintendont app from the homebrew channel, never did that before, and it crashed my system so I don't know what that's about. Oh well. I can be patient.

In any case,

I was curious as to wiimote + nunchuk support - that is an option, right? Could multiple wiimote/nunchucks be used for multiplayer? Or wiimote/nunchuks in conjunction with pro controller? I wanna play some (non-n64) mario party!

Official memory cards have never worked with libogc.

As I've said here in the past, at this time it is actually IMPOSSIBLE to create separate memory cards for every game with old saves transferred in from a physical memory card until some sort of new solution or memory card management tool is created. I had no choice but to do a raw backup of my memory card as the saves for some games could not be properly moved into their respective "single game" memory card.

In any case, safety is not an issue, as you can create a backup of the file, which for my memory card was only 8mb. You can have it saved to your pc or any other storage device. You could even have a copy of the file saved in another directory on the same device in case the one in use gets corrupted for whatever reason, which is an unlikely scenario anyhow given how stable nintendont is at this point in development.

You shouldn't call people lazy when they do not have the option or ability to do what they want to, and have tried to.
If you want multiple save files, why don't you just take the one backup image and create multiple copies with different save file names. No save transferring necessary. Having the extra games in the save image doesn't hurt anything. The only thing Multi does is change the name of the file being used.
The reason I added multi was to take advantage of games that use saves from other games (I think both SSBM and Metal Gear:SS do this off the top of my head), but there isn't anything preventing you from having other game data in save data that Nintendont calls single.

Creating my own controller ini with some but ltd success. I can barely read the values so blurry and getting a lot wrong. Any tips?

Edit: Ignore, I've found a free windows program that I can clearly see results from

I know I'm being a nuisance, but my memory card can never be read by Nintendont. :(

I deleted all my saves too on Nintendont..

sometimes I have dsi exception error when I come back to the game selection menu using the nintendont in usb loader GX

using the nintendont in homebrew channel the error exception dsi the does not occur.

Could be some kind of conflict or just the USB Loader freaking out for some reason, really hard to know what causes that, but if loading the app directly works better, then I suggest that for the mean time.
