I can see a Toshiba or Lacie brand HDD freaking out, but Western Digital typically makes very reliable drives. Two and a half years and still humming :P

Funny, Those are the drives the never failed me.. :D
In fact, i send the Lacie a few months ago to someone so he can use it with DM / nintendont (etc) (the drive is more than 5 yrs old) and it never failed him either.

True, but it's timings are different. It first tries to communicate using 3.0 and switches to 2.0 when that fails.
I tried the western digital passport drives on my wii and had nothing but problems with those.
That's when I noticed that not all "western digital passport" drives are alike.
Besides that, on wii, you could try to use it on it's native ios 58 usb 2.0, or on the usb 2.0 code of a cios which both gave different results.
Some older emulator forwarders could still use an older ios that even didn't supported usb 2.0. Neek had it's own buildin usb code which again was different.

The usb code improved and stuff was added to keep the harddisk spinning... (The spindown was a known problem).

I assume the Wiiu vwii is less critical in it's harddisk choices as it's supporting a harddisk in Wiiu mode. It seems to be more critical when it comes to the harddisk power consumption. If your disk needs more startup current, you will need an y cable to connect it with an additional plug to steal power from a second usb port.

thats funny??
...i have 10 WD Passports here from over the years usb2 and 3 ... of course for me each has worked great for ps3, jtag 360, wii and wiiu ... i feel they are handy lil f*krs even though i had to buy some cheap $4 y cable for the wiiu

As with my experience, I've never had a single Western Digital HDD fail on me :D :P I don't know why or how so many people have had bad luck with WD ;) Been a WD user since 2001, never had them fail once.

It's not a device problem but a lack of power from the wii U, what is the real problem with those drives ?
I thought it was a known thing by everyone...
It's not a problem with nintendon't, so why not make the discussion somewhere else ?

I was saying that my HDD works fine on the Wii and Wii U with a Y-cable, that's all. Anyway, with Nintendont, I haven't had a chance to try it out yet since I don't have a proper HID controller to test it on.

Wait, did I read somewhere in this thread by FIx94 that hopefully there will be support for CCP+Wiimote? o.o
Why can't I find the goddamn post?!

Anyone have tested Nintendont on a Wii Family Edition with no support for GC controllers and GC discs? Is it working?

cuz u dont know how to use the search feature :P lol

Here u go!

Oooray! Thank you!

There is in fact yes, and I know how the whole controller system works so yea, in the near future I'll add at least classic controller support :)

Oh Good Lord please!
The lack of a USB controller is the only thing keeping me from using NIntendon't in its entirety!
Classic Controller Pro + Wiimote support PLEASE!

I have an original Classic Controller with analog shoulders, it would be preferred over a Pro since the Pro controller only has digital shoulder buttons. I really don't understand why it's Pro at all when you lose compatibility to play games with it

Actually, I own both an original CC and the CC Pro. It was a weird turn by Nintendo to start making their controllers entirely digital from the Classic Controller Pro to the WIi U Controller and the Gamepad, it sure is confusing since the analog shoulders were implemented since the last days of the N64/PSX era.

Even so, there are few mainstream games that make full use of the analog shoulders. So far I can only think of both Mario Sunshine and Luigi's Mansion that I care of.

Exactly but those are 2 of the best games for the GC IMO, and Windwaker does as well to do certain actions so it's vital to have analog shoulder support. It was interesting how Tueidj though of a workaround for it with second analog stick in Devo so hopefully something similar can be implemented in Nintendont for those that have digital shoulder buttons only.

I think the same workaround from Devolution can be implemented here as well, but only for the Classic Controller Pro and the Wii U Pro Controller, since those two are the only ones without Analog Shoulders that have a controller.ini file for Nintendon't.

So far, I can say Mario Sunshine works without any major issues with a CCP in Devolution, although that's not the case of Luigi's Mansion, it has some odd controls and I have to toggle around with the L Button to get the Poltergeist working.
Is there too much of a difference if the controller is just configured to either 1 or 0 and compare it with a fully pressed Analog Button or not pressed instead of trying to toy around with the middle values? Does it make a huge difference in-game? (Out of more resources consumption in game of course)

Well looks like I can't save or load in Twin Snakes with memcard emu. I guess i'll just play and leave the wii on overnight instead of saving. Will or Does Nintendon't support physical memory cards?
