Did you rename the ini as "controller.ini"? And when you have the PS3 controller plugged in, is it on the bottom usb port in the back? Do the games load at all? I think I read that the PS button shouldn't be pressed until after the game has loaded.

I'm all good but when i don't press the PS3 controller nothing hapens. Stuck at "init HID device...". Nintendont is searching for the controller i think... I will try with a wiiu pro controller

Hey guys, longtime GBATemp follower first-time poster. I’m using an old white Wii from mid-2007 with a bunch of NTSC-U games ripped to a 1TB Western Digital USB HDD using USBLoaderGX. I’ve been running Nintendont (r39 through r50) straight from the HBC.
I can’t seem to get memory card emulation to work properly in any revision of Nintendont with any of a number of games. I can get some games to run fine with it enabled, but when trying to save in game it either gets stuck or freezes on the “saving in progress yada yada yada” screen. Then after restarting the Wii and launching the same game again in Nintendont, it sometimes recognizes that a save game was created but that it’s now corrupted and unusable and either asks me to delete the save or re-format the emulated card. This was the case when running Spider-Man 2. Which, save issues aside, played perfectly through the first few chapters in both r44 and r50.
Maybe I’m simply misunderstanding the meaning of the MCEMU column on the compatibility chart?

For example, the chart shows Metal Gear Solid The Twin Snakes with MCEMU enabled as working with r44, does this just mean the game runs fine with MCEMU enabled, but that saving/loading an actual save game from the emulated card may still not be functional? Based on some comments here, it seems as though others are able to load and create saves, or am I mistaken? I’ve seen mention of the memory card functionality having been broken in one of the revisions, but I thought it was just real memory card support and not the MCEMU being referenced.
And if the issue is just in first creating a save game on the emulated card, is there a way to copy my saves over from Dolphin? I tried copying them in Dolphin’s memory card manager to the ninmem.raw file in the saves folder on the root of my SD. In the manager, everything seemed to copy over just fine (I could even see the corrupted Spider-Man 2 file listed there before I deleted it). I copied both Wind Waker and Metal Gear saves to ninmem.raw without issue, but when booting the games up in Nintendont, neither game recognized that there was any save data for them on the emulated card. Thinking maybe having had the corrupted Spider-Man 2 file on the same emulated card had somehow screwed up the other saves, I started over with a fresh card and went through the process again only to get the same results.
(Oh and a side note, Metal Gear’s controls got a little screwy somewhere between r44 and r50. It keeps thinking I’m pressing one or both of the triggers when I’m not, rendering the game nearly unplayable. And aiming with the stick in 1st person view is a little jumpy too. I tried 3 different official Nintendo brand Gamecube controllers and the problem persists. Reverting back to r44 seemed to mostly fix this issue, though I’d still get the occasional phantom press of the R trigger but not nearly as often.)

Any help or clarity here would be greatly appreciated. And my thanks to the heroic folks still working on this project, keep up the good work!

if you on the wiiu turn Hi off on the settings and the ps3 controller must be connected to the lower back usb port while the hdd to the upper lower one, the front usb doors dont work, and even if hid devices are off wiiu nintendont always turns it on on the wiiu even if the seettings are off so do this

wiiu
hdd upper back port
ps3 usb lower back port
hid off on the settings
start the game
when game starts only them press the ps button

Ok so what is "hid off in settings" ? I don't see a hid setting !
is it wii remote & sensor bar / delete all wii remote pairings ?
thanks

hid are just for special controllers like the ps3 one in this case you cant use the ps3 controller trough wireless, after you select usb or sd click B on the wiimote and you will acess the settings, make sure everything with hid in front is off before acessing the game your ps3 controller must be connected to the back usb port the lower one if you start the game without the ps3 controller cable connected you will be stuck on hid devices also dont forget to renamed the controllerps3.ini to controller.ini and put it on the root of the sd/usb(where you keep the games) the root meaning you got comething like this the moment you open the sd/usb on the pc

Apps(folder)
games(folder)
controller.ini

dont mind the controler not having any lights it just has to be connected to the lower back port trough usb, only when the game actualy starts is that you press the PS button.

Sorry but it's not working

I did everything you said
Nintendont firmware 58.25.32
In the settings all the parameters are off except video on auto
I put the ps3_controller.ini and rename it controller.ini on the root of my usb
i have a PS3 controller connected to the lower usb back port

I choose a game...
then init HID devices : failed and the wii U reboot...

do i have a wrong .dol ?

is your ps3 controller original ps3 controller? and maybe trying another revision of nintendont?

Hey naxil bet it looks like that
YES, any chance to get a complete ramdump?

Hmm - I bought one in Monday and I couldn't get it to work on hid test. I was only using the front ports though (couldn't be bothered to disconnect drives to test at the time).

It was one of these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0089NVTDM

The controller should be connected into the Lower-Back Port.
The Upper-Back port should be for the HDD.
Try connecting it there and then let us know if the HID Test worked.
