Stupid and horrible. But what I'm wondering is why the dog bit the girl's face when it was the DS that was barking?
The dog wanted to see/sniff/gnaw on the shiny squeaky toy the girl was playing with (the DS), the girl tried to push/swat/kick him away, the dog bit her.

It's horribly irresponsible to leave a child unattended with any kind of animal, let alone a large dog. Stupid, stupid parents and owners

Haha, the dog was "destroyed?" Interesting choice of words, unless they used a bazooka.

Nice, the real one or the one in Nintendogs.

"The dog was destroyed"

Incoming missile...
I don't know about outside England, but saying a dog was destroyed is common here.
It just means that they killed it and it didn't die of natural causes.

Here in America, it is typical to say the dog was put down/put to sleep/put out/euthanized.

Maybe American dogs aren't violent to the point that they need to be "destroyed", just being put down is good enough XD

That is generally the terminology used here as well that or put down

Here is the scenario of what I think happened (provided the girl didn't kick the dog)

1. Child playing Nintendogs on her DS now being a child she probably played with it close to her face not understanding the dangers of such actions.
2. Dog on game barks
3. Real dog in the room breed is notorious for anti-social behaviour and poorly trained (More than likely)
4. Real dog hears barking noise.
5. Being a pack animal Investigates because it heard a new dog (Don't forget being dogs they think of everything around them that moves and makes a noise as another dog)
6. Real dog finds the source of the barking (refer to number 1.)
7. Real dog on instinct as a pack animal needs to establish dominance.
8. Thinking that the new is the little girl attacks to show dominance.
9. Girl get lip ripped off.

Now but not even the furtherest stretch of the imagination am I blaming Nintendogs, the little girl or the Bully itself either what I do blame it on is the lack of education about animals and videogames.

We usually use those phrases if the animal's life was deliberately ended due to ill health or serious injury.

I was going to point out the same thing; it's normal here.

And along with the city.

It's scary to see that people never take responsability for their mistakes. I know that's a new and strange concept, but NEVER leave a kid with a dog without proper surveillance. It's just like the kid who mistook a gun with a Wiimote accessory. Man, who leaves a gun, charged, with no security on a table ?

So there's a Bull Mastiff that'll attack with only verbal provocation... and it being around little girls seemed like a good idea?

Dear Rydian,

I have noticed that you have yet another very silly avatar photo.

Your friend,

I think in both these cases video games were being used as knee-jerk scapegoats to divert attention from the real problem which was the carelessness/stupidity of the parents.

I seriously hope that whoever plays nintendogs and such, doesn´t have any real pets.

You are better of playing with your dog/kitty.

Unfortunately, she's dead. She was 3 years old. But it's an old news, I think someone posted it here. And the worst thing in this case : no charges retained on the parents -_-
