That too, is your opinion. I personally think that Nintendo getting their own version of Skylanders with figurines that'll be usable between multiple games is frontpage worthy. I mean, if they do it right, they could make quite a lot of money with this.

If PlayStation (Nate, Crash Bandicoot, Kratos, etc) did the same to their best exclusive characters I'd buy it just to have those small figurines.

As for Xbox, I'd like a Master Chief (Halo) and Marcus Fenix (GoW) and that's it of Xbox characters for me.

Btw, I know Crash Bandicoot isn't a PlayStation exclusive but he sure as hell does feel like so.

I think they would be a pretty awesome way of making download codes for games, you can get the game digitally but you get something physical, perhaps even scan it to launch the game.

This is what I found interesting...

I also mentioned at the Corporate Management Policy Briefing this January the quick start menu. The integration of this feature is almost complete, and this is how it will actually work on the Wii U system. We will deliver this update to Wii U owners when we update the Wii U hardware either before or during summer.

??? Hardware updates????

if the next pokemon game uses this it's going to be very fucking expensive. instead of "gotta catch em all" it will be "gotta buy em all!" :creep:

Crash was a Playstation exclusive until the contract expired or something like that.

Anyway, it's not appealing to me but I don't think a sarcastic dick of a 21 year old is the target audience. Like Skylanders it's trying to combine real life toys with a virtual world which I guess is cool but it just sounds like a hassle to me. Skylanders itself is paying $60 for the game and like a bunch on figurines. I thought that some figurines became so bought out they started to get a Tickle-Me-Elmo level of resale craziness.

I guess this is just more of a pitch again to the younger audience but I don't think it'll help. Nintendo's been trying to recapture that Wii success but these ideas are just behind other ones. The Wii was pretty original, but a lot of their ideas now are just based off ones that have been done before.

Plus this might require buying a Wii U so no thank you. I'd rather buy my kid a good console or nudie mags.

Been checking out that briefing:

JR East has already made the interoperability with various other transport e-money cards possible on a wide scale, so Wii U will also support other transport e-money cards that are compatible with Suica, including PASMO and ICOCA.
As of the end of March 2014, approximately 44.20 million Suica-compatible e-money cards have been issued, and approximately 80 million transport e-money cards in total have been issued that feature interoperability with Suica.

With this, Wii U will be the first video game console that has a transport e-money payment function and is connected to the Internet.
Wii U is still on its way to becoming a video game system that has spread among a large number of people, but even at this moment, there are 1.30 million units of Wii U in Japan connected to the Internet. I understand that approximately 250,000 shops where there are more than 450,000 machines that accept Suica at the moment, and I believe that the additional impact of more than one million units of a game console with an e-money payment system suddenly becoming available among families would not be so insignificant.

Glad to know they have their internet priorities straight, this will definitely return all the potential consumer they showed finger by closing wfc servers

To establish new and growing areas through the active utilization of character IP, it is important for Nintendo to take risks ourselves and come up with interesting ways to use our character IP.
In other words, other than using character IP in Nintendo’s video game software, we need to start a new business that will someday become one of our core activities.

I think you can only milk so much, even you nintendo.

They will do a lot of money with it even if they don't do it right.

I know of a person who mapped all the tags and enabled the additional content for Skylanders without having the actual figurines present. The dude got a DMCA takedown and had to remove the code and findings IIRC. The tech is nowhere near hack proof. Samsung's NFC Beam is hacked too IIRC
Would love to be able to code and do that. Same has been done with Disney infinity I've used it personally and works well

Okay, this would be SO cool, but as well as it costing us a lot more money that just having non-additional characters? I'm not saying its a bad idea but just think it through.
