I wanted to turn on automatic updates on my clean Sysnand to automatically update my games, but I'm afraid it will auto update my firmware as well which I don't want for obvious reasons. Does automatic updates update the firmware? Or just the games?

Auto update only refers to game updates. There is no way to disable downloading system updates without removing Wi-Fi settings, setting Nintendo-blocking DNS settings, Airplane Mode, etc.

Yeah I don't really mind that, I just won't install them until I know its safe. Usually its safe to update Sysnand anyways as long as you don't update Emunand. I just don't want to wake up one day to a bricked switch because it installed a system update overnight
