Price to specs I'd say Amazon Fire TV is the best box if all your looking to do is stream media. It does make installing 3rd party apps difficult but not impossible. For what it offers I'd say that small hurdle makes it worth it.

1999 Power Macintosh G3 = PowerPC 750
Nintendo Wii = PowerPC 750

Clearly, all you need to do to play Wii games on an old Macintosh is put the disc in and connect the controllers, since the CPU is the only thing that matters. /s
OMG! And the G3 even came with a 6gb hard drive in it's smallest model, upgradable to 128GB. Ethernet, zip drive. Christ, the wii is a piece of shit compared to this. I'ma buy a G3 now and play my wii games in 16k resolution now.

Later losers.

Maybe when we get root access. At the moment we haven't even completely dumped the current OS, so figuring out how to flash a new one could take some time. Though I'd be curious to see if you could sideload android from the SD card rather than overwrite the switch's entire OS.
can i play clash or clans yet?

It sounds possible, with the Switch being confirmed to use a stock Tegra processor that's used in a Shield device and, hell, see fail0verflow's long, paid-off efforts to get Linux on the PS4, but sounding possible and actually being possible are two different things. It took fail0verflow a long time to get Linux on the PS4, and even then someone's gotta be motivated to port Linux/Android to the Switch.

Well, Kodi for Switch ? Hmm.. Correct me if I am wrong but Kodi is illegal, isn't it ? I don't know which streaming in Kodi is legal.

Do you think the Nintendo Switch will ever be hacked to run Android TV it is basically a shield tv i would not think it be that hard. just an idea
I don't care for Android TV but I'm pretty sure the day will come where you could have Switch OS and Android as dual boot which isn't a bad thing at all as you could use Android to turn it into the perfect emulation machine (while having Switch OS for Switch games of course, otherwise a Shield or even a bluetooth gamepad for Android devices would do the job).

Lineage OS is out for NVidia Shield TV. Now, all we need is somebody port it to Switch when it's hacked. [No need to port it actually, they both run the same CPU and architecture]

As much as I wish that's how it worked there's more to an operating system than just handling the CPU

I used to think that the Kodi team was overreacting when they complained about "Kodi" boxes ruining their name. This topic has proved me wrong.

Why on Earth would you buy a Nintendo Switch to run AndroidTV on it when you could get something significantly cheaper to do so?

THIRD... PARTY... GAMES...

shield TV gets more than the mobile style Android games. BTW there is also Kodi media player. Those are pretty damn good reasons for Android on Switch.

That's not how it works, that's not how it works at all.

We barely have a webkit exploit and you're planning to run full-blown Android? The 3DS took years to fully crack and the Switch is still in its early days. This won't happen anytime soon.

And this is the reason why I still keep updating my Switch. I don't expect magic when it's just been a month.
