Nintendo Switch 2 announced by Nintendo

After months of countless leaks, Nintendo has finally lifted the curtain on the highly anticipated successor to the Nintendo Switch.

In a short teaser trailer we are given a brief look the new system unsurprisingly titled the Nintendo Switch 2. We also get a glimpse at a new Mario Kart game running on the system and confirmation of backwards compatilbility with Nintendo Switch software and game cards.

We also see the new joycons being pushed along like a traditional computer mouse, further fueling the rumor that the joycons will support a "mouse mode".

Alongside the new trailer, a Nintendo Direct focused on Switch 2 has also been announced for April 2nd.

I would rather to see improved old handhelds line, like DS and DSi.
Imagine DSi2 with additional graphic modes and 2x or 3x resolution that would enhance old 3d games to looks more decent
in natively way, and raster graphic could have hardware upscaling like 2xBrz or different one selectable by a button.
Plus some extra chips like Blitter, SiD, FM or Kickstart 2.1

First off... it's not a hybrid. It's a handheld. It has the power and capabilities of a handheld. Deck and etc are also all handhelds too.

Secondly, Nintendo has the brand recognition none of those guys have. The thing will sell like hotcakes even with lower power and less games- people just recognize Nintendo more.

I don't get takes like this. You guys have to be trolling or at least disingenuous

I mentioned I was excluding handheld PC's, they are not a console in the same sense. Heck, even Valve recognises this:

"All Steam Decks (both LCD and OLED) are powerful, portable, PC gaming devices made for comfort and a console-like experience. We partnered with AMD to create Steam Deck's custom APU, optimized for handheld gaming."

The majority of people would rather go with a well known, plug and play system, than a weird looking device they have no idea how it even works (which, again, is how the majority of people view those devices).
 
love that its finally real! leaks all confirmed. now we just need to know if its still running HorizonOS and will atmosphere just straight work LOL that would be incredible.

i have an odd feeling this might flop.
 
This is going to be as successful as the Wii U. Literally. The Switch selling numbers are falling down and they just are like ''more of the SAME''

I'm hoping this time around they make a left Joy-Con with a real d-pad than make us wait for the NS2 Lite just for it.

And oh God, add some Nintendo vibe/colors to the NS2 it looks too generic.

No, we have anbernic clones etc and it's not a real hardware... It also doens't provide any profits...
to make it happen Nintendo could try to change thier earning money politics, let's say this device could have
OS with ide compiler, software for graphic and music, as well as tutorials. Let's say similar to Pico-8 development.
And include a system for monetazing own project where 1% of earning could go to Nintendo account.
Just release an open system once and give it own independent long life. Let's say commercial titles could be optional.

My reason for purchasing an NS2 will be Mario Kart 9 and Mario Odyssey 2 (no news yet). I've never cared too much about Pokémon, but it sells millions and millions of copies, yep.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Not sure why people wanted Nintendo to reinvent the wheel with this one. They're playing it safe because of the WiiU. Hoping to break that generational curse. The Switch 2 will sell, and the older consoles will become eWaste. Can't wait to see the weird mouse gimmick used in two games and the never discussed again.
