Gaming Nintendo has explained why Splatoon has no voice chat.

Doesn't sound like a problem to me. Then again, I generally only do multiplayer offline. Sometimes I'll go online, but only with friends and we have our own Ventrilo server we use for voice.
You do WHAT? Do you ever thought on what could happen when you play so carefree with people on a console before the TV!? :ohnoes:
You could have eye contact! Your knees could touch! Or you could accidently forget to slip your protective finish over your little wiimotes and splatoon all over yourself - or even worse, over others!

.. yupp, and I can argument with sh*t too.

Nintendo is literally saying "Parents are to stupid to see what their kids are doing" with this, plus many other things I'm to lazy to write. One step more back in every way.

I should phrase this a bit better. It doesn't bother me, as it doesn't really pertain to me, as I don't play online multiplayer games very often. Even when I do, I never use the built in voice chat. That said, it wouldn't hurt to have the option, as it never hurts to have options. If people don't want screeching children in their ear, they should have the option to turn it off, though that doesn't mean the option shouldn't be there.

Wait.. this whole post was pointed at Nintendo. I just used your post for some idiotic exaggeration.. sorry if that did come out wrong. There is no need for any justification on your side.

And yes, I agree with you.

I was thinking that despite not having voice chat for the public (non-friend/private matches) the very least they can do is let players choose each position so everyone knows what they should do in their teams. It'll still be confusing but this should make it easier, though.

I support the idea of going without voice chat. It just promotes immaturity. If I wanted to hear some kid, or even some grown man, gripe and bitch about a game, I'd play games with my family more often.

Then don't. You can turn it off. I'm assuming you have a brain and functioning hands, go to the options menu and turn off voice chat. There's not even an option for it though, and they're basically covering up being lazy and denying players additional features with some garbage excuse.

I don't use voice chat generally but it's a nice option. When I do, I'm usually in a party with some friends so we can coordinate. We don't have to worry about kids screaming profanities. But that option isn't even here.

It's embarrassing that we're willing to see developers skip basic functionality with a lazy excuse and jump to their defense. If they had it, you can turn it off if you're so opposed to it. But for everyone else, they can use it to coordinate and enjoy their online experience.

Nintendo goes so out of their way to ensure that games are family-friendly... It's a shame, since this is that kind of game in which communication is vital.

You're kidding, right? Have you not seen the game? This is a TPS for kids, can we get that straight at least?

Anywho, tl;dr the rest of the thread, just another shamefur dispray from our favourite Japanese dev.

It's like Nintendo figured out that they could do a spin-off from Mario Sunshine and this is what came outta it. I've always loved Mario Sunshine so a game similar to that is something I'd like to try.

Forget the single player! I'm going straight to multiplayer when I get it!

Do you feel it to be a kids game due to complexity and depth of gameplay, or because it's colourful and accessible?

Back on topic, I really wish friend-chat was a thing.

Yes, kids don't play Call Of Duty or Halo, nor any "proper shooter".
That's not what I said, re-read the post if you have to. What I said was that shit talkers play mainstream competitive shooters, they won't play Splatoon, a game clearly designed for children. Read and comprehend before you reply.

I'm saying it's a kids game because it's an E10-rated game about kids shooting squids with supersoakers filled with ink. Are you being picky on purpose? It's obviously designed for children. I've seen accessible and colourful porn but I wouldn't say it's for kids - Splatoon is. You know it when you see it. It's not a bad thing, all games have a place on the market, it's an accurate observation though.

Voice chat in shooters comes in handy.

I wonder how many of the members that posted here about not liking the voice chat in other games have actually disabled the voice chat in the games they play? I agree that voice chat in an adult rated game should be disabled so children cannot hear it, besides that I was just wondering how many adults here have disabled the voice chat in games where only adults will hear it.

Are you buying splatoon or is you gonna pass on it? I don't know myself i'm still deciding
I'm not buying it, there are better games out there to buy. I'm sure the press will sploodge all over it the moment it comes out though, because what else is there coming for the Wii U this year.

I find there's a huge difference between "accessible to kids" and "accessible to everyone". Pixar movies, for example, are accessible to everyone. The smurfs movies are accessible to kids. I see Splatoon as falling in the pixar category rather than the smurfs category.

I don't really care who all can have fun with it, so long as I can have fun with it. Labeling it as a kiddy game would seem to put it outside of that "for everyone" realm I'm talking about.
