If you used a different program other than [ H2testw / F3 / F3X ], those are not suitable for testing the hardware condition of flash storage. For example, the Window's built-in chkdsk (right mouse click on SD card letter drive → Properties → Error Checking) will scan and correct a SD card's file system but does not tell you if the card is fake or faulty.

About the { CTRNAND + TWLN + TWLP }, there is a method of troubleshooting or repairing another person's 3DS firmware by temporarily cloning the (source) system's NAND onto another (target) system of the same [ old | new ] series. None of this would matter if your SD card happens to be bad where it can't reliably hold and transfer data.

That's fine and is to be expected. The 1 MB that's not checked is reserved for the partition table that keeps track of what's on the SD card. Continue the test.

Your 16 GB (micro)SD card is real but has been found to be faulty. Even though just 1 MB was determine to be unreliable, that's all it takes for a card to no longer be able to reliably perform its read & write functions.

An analogy to this failure is something like if a 100mL measuring beaker has a pinhole poked at the bottom, and you work at a testing laboratory where concocting special chemical compounds must match exactly what the formulas specify. No more, no less.

Your (micro)SD card will need to be replaced.

   • sdmc:/gm9/scripts/NANDManager.gm9
   • To play it safe, backup your EmuNAND in case you want to restore it later.
2. Copy everything off the SD card to a computer.
3. Quadruple reformat.
   • Make sure you delete and combine all the partitions in MiniTool.
4. Full Write + Verify the empty card in H2testw.
   • Yes, you have to hardware test this card, too.

@Zane_Julien and I were able to come to an agreement where he was to ship his n3DSXL from Germany to Florida through Pigeon Carrier Express. Because he was explicit in his request about wanting to minimize hands on contact to his beloved n3DSXL due to concerns of spreading CV, I fix his bricked firmware by temporarily reflashing his nand files [ ctrnand_full.bin , twln.bin , twlp.bin , essential.exefs ] onto my n3DSXL, manually correcting his mistakes, dumping & reflashing the fixed nand files back to his n3DSXL, and lastly sanitizing the 3DS system with alcohol wipe + air mailing it back to Germany. Total cost paid was 20 pounds of bird seeds for two way shipping.

What I found in his nand was that the movable.sed was missing and there were random external files added to all three (3) partitions that should haven't been there in the first place.

• [3:] SYSNAND TWLP

Without a valid or signed movable.sed, the CDN server will not grant one access to Nintendo eShop and Theme Shop.

All of this trouble could have been avoided had Zane_Julien only listened to my earlier advice about carefully reading and following the Instructions to repairing the 3DS firmware + custom firmware using CTRTransfer (Type D9) - CTRTransfer.

This could have saved him from spending real €€€ to buy all that bird seeds postage!
