Okay, just finished Crash of the Titans -- been playing it non-stop for the last couple of days -- and man, what a great game! I tried it for a few minutes when it first released, but there were quite a few big games out around the same time, not least of all Phantom Hourglass, if memory serves. However, with the recent lull in really fun games released, I went back to it out of boredom. So glad I did.

I'm telling you, this is definitely an "essential" DS game. It's not perfect, but it is very fun and it's quite the looker, to boot. A really polished platformer, overall. Check it out, people!

Gonna try some other titles from that list out!

Its really annoying because im still very new to this whole flash card thing and I bought a 2gb card with my CylcoDS Evo. thinking that it would surely be enough and its already full of great games and I still want more.

Now I dont have enough money for a bigger card.

why would you want 15+ games to play at once? I don't see how you could get any real enjoyment from any of your games...

Yeah, if you play too many games at one time, you won't be entertained.
Some people like having lots of games at one time, though.
Maybe they're scared of breaking their MicroSD's putting them back and forth
from their DS to their computer.

btw,
+ Advance Wars: Days of Ruin
+ Professor Layton and the Curious Village

These games are aaawesome.
Layton is a hunk.
I would vote for Elite Beat Agents too,
but it's already all the way up there.

you don't have to edit your previous post, just make a new (that doesn't contain any games that you have already mentioned). I dont check over posts that have been added to the overall list.

Do you reckon we should change the "Phoenix Wright (series)" to "Ace Attorney (series)"? It makes much more sense, now Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney is out.

I think Shiren is an essential and my reasoning is simple:

Essential games define their genre by being the best-of-the-best in their genre.

Shiren is the best roguelike on the Nintendo DS and one the greatest roguelikes to date.

As the best game of its type, it's hard to dispute that it belongs on the essentials list.

The only thing preventing the roguelike genre from being more universally popular is that many people have the notion that roguelikes are incredibly difficult. This stems from the misconception that roguelikes should be compared to other dungeon crawlers or RPG's. A roguelike is closer in line with brickbreaker or Pac Man where the object is to get further than you did before and to set a new high score.
