Assuming it follows suite exactly like the DS did, and assuming a Lite version at all, it could be cheaper ($150 phat vs $130 Lite), but nothing is guaranteed, so there may not be a Lite version, but if there is, there is no guarantee it'll be cheaper or same price as phat. It's all wishful thinking based on previous hardware.

My friend thinks it's unbelievable, but I'm waiting for the 3DS Lite/XL and Pokemon Gray. He's pre-ordering the 3DS today and getting Black at launch.

EDIT: As said above, it'll be better, and probably cheaper.

The 3DS is already too small to have a Lite version.
(Don't know if I posted here already)
And XL DSi looks clumsy and is mainly for 'old' people, and 3DS is going to be more for hardcore gamers so I hope it won't get to that.

Possibly less thick and not smaller in length/width if there were to have a lite version, and it would definitely be more expensive as well if there were improved functions (like 2 megapixel camera instead of 0.3, and longer lasting battery life up to 10h on 3D mode... or anything else which you can think of)

As for screen size, I doubt there will be a 3DS XL which has a 3D screen of more than 4", without glasses that is, due to autostereoscopy. (Not too sure about this though)

Probability bigger screens or longer lasting battery, but I do not think they would touch the camera especially from a big jump from 0.3 to 2. That would be three 2 megapixel cameras, that would totally jack up the price.

Maybe the lower screen... The upper 3D screen is big enough at 3.5"

I seriously hope they can enhance the camera to maybe 1 mp? It has been 0.3 since the release of DSi!

Who knows, maybe the new model will have a new design flaw? Early DS Lites were very susceptible to hinge-crack, something which wasn't a problem for the DS Phat.

The DS Phats had a hinge crack problem too.....and all of them have L and R button problems.....

That was the first time ninty made an dual screen handheld and all the experience they gained from making the ds line is now in the 3ds so I don't expect alot of flaws.

ill do what i did with the ds, buy the 3ds phat then laugh at the 3ds lite cause its rubbish then buy the 3ds-i because it has new yet unimportant features

I'll end up buying it some time around launch, enjoy it until the next revision comes out which will likely coincide with the time my little brother finds a way to tear it in half, then I'll grab the next one.
Has happened with gba sp-micro, ds-dsl and this'll probably be no different...

The DS Phats had a hinge crack problem too.....and all of them have L and R button problems.....

I treated my Phat and Lite equally. Only my Lite's hinge cracked.

um, you have it reversed, the DS lite is way better than the original DS, with its brighter screens, smaller form factor, and longer battery life, oh and aesthetically pleasing too.

The 3DS hasn't even came out yet and people are talking about revisions...
It's like saying you won't be getting a playstation 4 when it comes out because they will be making a playstation 5 about 5-7 years after...
it's pretty stupid waiting for something that isn't announced to even exist.

i just like its design
it is so awesome

the 3ds is even better!

i dont see that being a problem here as far as brightness
i dont think we can improve brightness further
only better screen tech but im fine with lcd

btw it's not like the revisions will be a major improvement.
With the DS to DSLite it was only just a more compact design, brighter screens and better battery.
not much of an upgrade more like just afew extra goods.
