What do you think about this "hack"?

No....you can turn ur wifi on cause you have to accept update and 3ds has not an automatic update...
I would turn your wifi off. Even if you don't accept the update, the 3DS will check for a new one, and once one is found it will prompt you to install it every time you turn the 3DS on (even if you disable wifi afterwards), which is annoying.

Its very easy for nintendo cause nintendo isnt a person ... Even 20 people from nintendo can find the exploit under 3 mouth.and i dont get the point of keeping it secret cause if we dont update even if nintendo releases a update for fixing this neimond can still do it in corrent version!!!!!and he still have time to search for that great exploit(!!!)...
Using the same argument, regardless of whether neimod releases the hack or not, those who want the exploit should consider carefully if they want to update their console since every update MAY just contain a countermeasure from Ninty. After all, it's not like Ninty is going to announce in their release notes which specific update will fix neimod's exploit right? And since that is the case, we may as well NOT update and then, give neimod his well-deserved time to polish things out. He owes us nothing. At all.

Besides, saying that it's easy for Ninty to fix it quick is like saying it's easy to find a(n undisclosed) defect in a container full of screws. You won't be sure what you are looking for exactly.

Do you have any proof? I have the proof that Foxi4 said it and he/ she's very experienced in the scene (although he/she makes some mistakes, too). Do you really think that Nintendo tries to modify every single value in the save just to find out whether it's the exploited game? Seriously? Do you know anything about savegame exploiting? They won't waste their employees to find the exploit if they can wait some months to fix it without any searching.

This is nonsense. There are literally dozens of potential exploit vectors in almost all games on 3DS (a couple might have only a few vectors). Each individual vector could take hours to fully check for vulnerability. It is very easy to simply write off a potential vector because at first it doesn't appear exploitable, but if Nintendo were doing this, they would need to be completely sure so would have to check very carefully.

If they could do this, do you not think they would, regardless of neimod noticing the exploit? By which I mean, do you not think they would spend hours checking games for vulnerabilities before each one is released? (Hint: they probably do that already, but they miss some; no reason why they'd pick it up now when they missed it before).

Simply knowing that there is an exploit in a game won't help them in anyway; it would be much, much too great an effort to try and find the exploit with that little detail. If they knew the game, they could probably have a few people work on it for a few days and find the vulnerability. With the entire 3DS library; not a chance. Would take months or years to check every game.

Can you guys wait after October 2013 because I want Pokemon X and Y to be released before the exploit so it can hack it, I don't want Nintendo to ban the release of the game.

1. No one on this forum has any control over the release of the exploit. That is the up to the real hackers, who actually made it.
2. It will not play ROMs if that's what you are implying
3. Nintendo will not prevent the release of what will be one of their most profitable games of upcoming times because of some homebrew exploit. Even if it could play ROMs. The "lost" revenue from piracy would be nothing compared to the actual lost revenue from not releasing the game. (By releasing the game, lets say they make $20 million [no idea if that's a realistic figure or not, but meh]. Maybe $0.2 million of that would account for would-be pirates. So if they release the game, and ROM loading is possible, they'd still make $19.8 million. If they don't release the game, they make $0. And they loose everything they spent developing the game, plus cause outcry amongst fans. It would be a terrible PR move, and would make absolutely no logical sense.)

Ur absolutely right

Even if nintendo doesnt do that nintendo will somehow find the exploit....maybe tommorow or maybe next year
But i say
Please (not have to )release it sooner.....(i think its better ;) )

I think it's ridiculous how they told us that they have an exploit and that's it. No info on anything else. Absolutely ridiculous. They need to announce some more stuff officially.

I think it's ridiculous you feel so entitled and are making such ludicrous demands.

They don't need to do shit, they aren't owned by anyone and they don't work for anyone. They can do whatever they damn well please whether you like it or not.

Actually they may work for someone, and even be owned by someone, you have no idea. But they don't have to do shit for us for sure.

Oh wow, it came out demanding but I just meant that I kind of dislike it when companies or even people announce stuff and then lay off of it and just don't expand at all. If they're not going to release it anytime soon, or if they don't want to release it so that Nintendo doesn't patch it, then just don't say anything at all in the first place. Is that not the most logical thing to do? Don't create hype for stuff you don't want people to have, or at least say officialy that it won't play roms so that game devs like Whatsam don't stop supporting the console as much as they used to. And perhaps say that it won't be released until at least however long so that people in every thread can stop posting the most useless comments and just clogging up every forum. Lol. And of course they have to do shit for us. They're asking for our money through the funding and they've raised quite a bit so far. Even if it's for a different method of hacking-the intention is the same. If they don't want to do shit for us, then don't. No one asked them to. There are plenty of other perfectly capable people in the world.

A hacker slave? that'd be awesome to have.

@OP: Donating never gave anyone the right to make demands. Specially when you get benefited from the fundraising yourself.

What Neimod/yellows8 do is research and development. As in the "real world", often R&D is funded and absolutely nothing tangible comes of it.

And remember, its donations we're talking about -- not contract labor.

I'm fairly certain I'm going to buy pokemon regardless of whether or not the hack comes out and works with roms by october. Nintendo is worldwide releasing a main series game that seems like an actual expansion of past success rather than a retread. I don't want to demotivate them even though I already know that they're going to be making so much money as is. I'd like XY to outsell previous generations.

Same with Fire Emblem. Fire Emblem: Awakening looks like Intelligent systems on godmode.

Everything else I'm pirating, come at me bro.

1. They've made research on the 3DS and deelopement. Of course they're asking donations. They've never forced you to donate. That doesn't mean anything will come out of it. They've done it for pure knowledge and nothing else.
2. The 3DS been hacked . Are they entitled to give the exploit to you guys? Definetely not. Why? 'Cause they never even promised that they'll release it.
So yes, it was kind of demanding. Don't expect Hackers to always do shit for the community.

Then you don't know what you're talking about. If the experts thought it wise to release the name of the game, they would. They know what they're doing. You don't. You're just impatient and finding 100 ways to justify your opinion due to your own bias. It'll be ready when it's ready.
