crazy thing did see . some people did install other firmware was a hit and miss . some of the redrings came down to the firmware on the dvd drive after they change that seem to work. no point in it tho from what i can see .https://gist.github.com/ceilingtilefan/e32d4447ec1c8bdcf0895b0efbf1f1d8

I used the exploit and dumped the CPU key and the NAND. In the next few days, I want to mod my Jasper with the 2-wire RGH3. Fingers crossed.

there a youtube vid of a guy doing that . seem to work well
But why install RGH and use Bad Update at the same time when you can just go with the one option? It misses the whole point of having a softmod to begin with.

Take note that dumps made with Bad Update will not work with RGH installs, at least from what I know already before - whether this is a coincidence or what. Only make a backup using PicoFlasher, XFlasher360, or any other physical device that can read/write to the NAND. It can and will brick the console if you use it for RGH in the future.

Bad Update is only needed to dump the nand and the key. After the cables are installed and the rgh nand is written, it will boot without Bad Update.

According to tutorials it should work. Any sources?

From personal experience, I modded a 4GB Corona by dumping the NAND with Simple 360 nand flasher with BadUpdate, patching it with Jrunner for RGH3, flashing it with Simple 360 NAND flasher with Bad Update, and wiring the RGH3. It worked perfectly. I don't know if it's dangerous for others, but it worked for me.

This only seems to be the case if you had already modified the NAND with Bad Update. Should be fine if you kept it to within stock, as long you also didn't connect it to the internet. I'd still make a backup of the NAND using a programmer just in-case, verify the checksums, and if they match it's good. No need to worry about bricks.

XeUnshackle states the following on the repository:
DO NOT FLASH MODIFIED NAND IMAGES! You will brick your console. / DO NOT REPLACE FILES IN FLASH! This includes things like replacing the bootanim.

you'd think with the internet at their fingertips, and 20 years of xbox tech support forums still existing in plain text, people would know better

BUT NOPE, THEY KEEP DOING IT

yesterday when using bad update i found out that my console has a motherboard "corona" despite being an xbox 360E , so can RGH this console or not ?

xbox 360 console model 1538 ;

MFR DATE 2014-08-06 ;

SERIAL NUMBER : 043082443208

this link goes to a blank page
It goes to a working page for me. Maybe try with a different browser.
If your Corona is a V3,4,5,6, a post fix adapter must be used. You must open and check the motherboard to determine the exact model.

, but thanks anyway

but sadly i can't check with bad update which type of the corona motherboard my console has , but it shouldn't matter too much , right ?
What matters is if you have a 16MB or 4GB nand

I can confirm this works, trinity / Corona 4gb tested - You can now RGH your Trinity / Corona without a harware flasher - Cool stuff.

What would you guys recommended to store the games to play with Bad Update? I'm thinking:
- Big thumb drive to hold both exploit and games
- External hard drive
- I have 2 20GB hard drives for my phat, I could put a bigger drive in one. I have a 120GB Western Digital drive that I think would work, or I could buy a new 2TB HDD or SSD.

Which would you more experienced users go with?

External SSD/HD up to 2tb be the cheapest/ easiest.

Only this is what you need to identify what Xbox 360 you have. The serial no. and date doesn't mean anything.

I recommend redacting your serial for obvious reasons, this also includes your CPU key and DVD key.
