This is an excellent tool. Good to see people trying to make things easier for everyone. Also saves loads of time when you are dumping loads of files at a time.
I tried DoReMe Fantasy (JCAN) but the WAD doesn't work with your tool - returns a -2011 error in WAD Manager. I've compiled it with other tools and it works fine.
EDIT: Just posted up a new version. Fixed a few minor bugs. I also added a debug mode so those having problems can send me a log to look at when trying to fix problems.
New version out with more robust name detection. For titles that don't follow the standard naming scheme, it finds it in an alternate place. This alternate name is usually less pretty, but it's still much better than a blank. For instance, on the TG-16 title Akumajō Dracula X Chi no Rondo, it identifes as DRACULAX.
Great tool. Has it been 100% confirmed that the BFGR tool uses the correct tickets though? I just wanted to make sure before making my personal backups.
From what I remember, no WAD packer uses truly "good" tickets, as all non-legitimate tickets must be trucha signed.
So if you make backups of your existing channels, their ticket will not be signed the same way as your legitimate existing channels.
So in the case that nintendo finds a way to totally bottle up trucha signing (which I seriously doubt, seeing as how with the use of PatchMii/CIOS/whatever, it will be possible to patch existing IOS's or make new IOSs with the trucha signing bug intact) your backed up channels/wiiware would then no longer work. But like I said, that is a far remote possibility due to the way Nintendo includes every existing IOS on a given wii/the fact that we still have the twilight hack.
Go ahead and correct me if I'm wrong on any of this.
The best bit......
The program no longer uses a database for looking up the names. It now examines the files and figures out the title on it's own. No more unknown titles, however some names come out funny (ie. "Defend Your CastleXGen Studios").
So this can read the name from the tik, will you be releasing the source?
As I think a LOT of apps could benefit from having this, such as title lister etc etc.
I get the same problem as has been mentioned before.... when other people try to install some wads I made, they get a 1020 ticket error. Any ideas on whats gone wrong?
Details:
- Using Waninkoko's FS dumper to dump Wii contents onto SD
- Using TF's Wad Packer v0.1.2 beta with BFGR WadTools v0.39a to create the wad
The games being used are Last Ninja 2 (C64) and Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle (Mega Drive).
Both are PAL of course.
