    Somewhere in the middle
You're trying to run a Windows-based installer for the emulators (which are also windows-based) on a system that isn't Windows. You need to find an emulator built specifically for Linux, or learn about and use something called Wine.

yeah just go to software center -download wine-select the file you want to install with the right mouse button and then chase :make it executable -and then open with a double click
hopefully this will work but its not guarantied :s

    Between insane and insecure
You need to install Wine to run windows programs, but not all windows programs can run properly through wine.
Also in the software center, you can download Linux versions of the emulators.

to run emus on a different arquitecture, you need the source code and compile the source to gen an executable. Just stick with windows if you want DS emulation for now.
