GBC ROMs are unplayable on my EZFlash Omega with stock kernel due to crashing. Does this kernel have improved support/playability for GBC ROMs compared to the stock?

I got the same problems with this kernel, but with this one you can manually "update" the emulators for newer versions. I did that for the gbc emulator and now works well.

Can you explain that a bit more for me? I tried this firmware/kernel over the stock one and my GBC ROMs are still unplayable. Is it an issue with the goomba emulator that's being used? I've made sure I'm using the most recent firmware, and I've even tried rolling back to previous version of goomba with no fix.

Some roms will just not work with goomba like pokemon crystal. The version of g embedded on Simple Kernel has an issue not saving games, that is an emulator issue and you can fixing it by updating the goomba emulator, same for nes emulator.

Crap, forgot to update that after so long. Fixed.
sweet. Thanks. Not sure if your still working on the project anymore. But I did find the actual link beforehand (your website was easy to navigate thankfully. Some personal sites can't do anything like that which is dumb). And I've created this simple red skin if I could share it.

EDIT: It's for the original EZ Flash Omega. Not sure how to make a DE version. But I have the source files as well if anyone wants to make it. And Sterophonick allows me to upload it. Lol.

alrighty. I've been using it for a while but I need to adjust the colors a small amount. LMK what you guys think! I'm including a ZIP file containing the copied source code. But yeah. It's too bright at times. If you have a suggestion. PLEASE inform me. I have not much idea on what im doing

This is for the non-DE Version. But if someone compiles a DE version. I don't really care. As this isn't my work. At all.

I tested it, looks nice, I like red and since you used Sterophonick's work as a base, it works mostly fine.
I have just 2 observations:

1.- Since you used Simple Kernel as a base, it has the same busted buggy jagoomba core. It freezes the console if you exit it or does not show the SD card's content. Also it does not keep saves after an on/off cycle. I attach the cores that fixed for me just in case you want them or someone else needs them.

2.- I like the colors but IMO the red letters on red background are not that legible, I suggest white or a darker tone of red (like the one in the upper bar) to make the text more readable.

Thats it, the rest works fine, NES, Gba, Nor.

Alright I can do something about the red text. I was trying to have it be a different color honestly. And I have a few ideas. Gimme a bit to work on it

ngl I gotta ask... How does one get a 31 color value off the DEC? I Dunno

Update: Made some changes. Feel free to install it. I could have made a mistake with the colours though. And I also included the better versions of the GBC/NES emulators in the plugins

@Sterophonick Excellent work on this kernel, the theme is really nice and all the extra rom types are amazing. It's great to be able to emulate systems that are harder to come by than a GBA.

Speaking of, I am wondering if you could replace SwanAdvance with SwanGBA by FluBBaOfWard. Unfortunately SwanAdvance doesn't load games at all for me. SwanGBA is actively being updated, with a new release last week!

I've longed hoped to be able to play the MegaMan games that were released on the WonderSwan. Either way, thank you for all your hard work making this!

Hi! First of all, I want to saythanks to the creators.
Second, I have a question @Sterophonick this kernel reduces the battery consumption of the ez flash omega?
Thanks!
In practice it really doesn't, i only made the CPU turn off until the screen is finished drawing in parts of the menu where it should have. it has no effect when playing games. in truth, younger me basically misled lots of people

Yeah I noticed that FluBBa was back making emulators, if I find the time I can probably do that

Greetings everyone, I'm new.
First this is awesome!!! Thanks everyone!!
One suggestion or idea: When you have a lot of games in the list, is there a way to scroll down the list faster? Something like a Page Up menu?
Is Simple v3.7 K:1.09 F:9 the last version?

You can scroll faster using left and right instead of up and down.
Yes, that is the last kernel version for Simple.
The last official kernel is 1.10.
Firmware 9 is the last one for both.

You need to keep working on legibility.

Case in point, I can barely see the difference between switch on and off on these options, and only if I watch really close. IMO It needs bright contrasting colors to be easily readable.

Second, (dark) font is too thin, now looks slightly more legible but not by much.

Anyways, you made me interested in trying color combinations myself, I'll try to do it as soon as I have some time to spare.

Please don't take my words in a bad way, english is not my first language and Im not trying to be malicious, just informative.

EDIT:
I just found that the darker color (hollow) in the checkboxes means ON and the brighter color (filled) means OFF, that is totally counter intuitive for any device with checkboxes. I was so confused.

Last edited by liquidgykill,
i thought i should share this here. i made a gba emulator a while ago that also emulates the ezflash omega (and DE). It will function the same as it would on hardware, although rom loading will be a lot faster. I emulated it as i also wanted to write my own skin/firmware, however i never got around to it, and so the code has been left doing nothing...

if anyone is interested in it, i'll work on getting the code uploaded (the interface needs to be a bit more user/dev friendly). I think it would help improve the workflow of anyone working on the firmware - as well as for users wanting to test the ezflash out before they buy (i highly recommend buying one regardless, the DE is awesome).

i set the screen capture software to use a low framerate and no audio to keep filesize down. the emulator is not slow and it does have audio!
