They would have started on the game already for sure. With the amount of copies that NSMB sold they'd be stupid not to have another one in development.

I seriously don't think a New Super Mario Bros. 2 will come out. New Super Mario Bros. was already a bold move for Nintendo. It was the first new Mario platformer they'd done in like forever.

I'm glad they're not overworking the franchise (except for all those spin-offs, like Mario Kart, Mario Party, Mario Strikers, Mario Basketball, Mario Golf and Mario Tennis, of course
