ok so i am planning to buy a vita soon and i am kinda lost in the world of the vita and hacking , so i want some Pros to help me .

first of all , can i switch accounts ? because i am a big fan of JRPGs and want to switch to the japanese account and buy some from there .

second : if i wanted to play PSP ISOs on it using total noob's tn-v CFW , and knowing that it comes updated to 3.51 , would i be able to use the CFW on it ? and if yes , i want a simple step by step tutorial on how to do it .

third : any news on the native vita hacking scene ? what's going on ?

fourth : if i hacked the vita , would it be banned ? can someone explain to me how console ban works ?

fifth ( and final ) : can someone explain what are game PKGs ? and how they work ? what's that PSM thingy ?

i am really sorry for asking too many questions and thanks a lot for your help ^_^

    1. To switch accounts, you have to take out memory card A, do a system restore, then put in memory card B and login to the other region account.

    2. There is no 3.51 PSP mode exploit even for VHBL except for JPN (I think the demo was pulled though), much less full on TN PSP CFW.

    3. Currently there is a homebrew solution in the works. It uses the PSM development app and an SDK has been made by developers called Rejuvenate to facilitate homebrew development. It's a bit of a pain to get the PSM dev app right now without a PS3 since the app was completely pulled from PSN, but last I heard a solution using the Unity kit was in the works that would make it easier to manage. I'd watch yifan lu's blog and wololo.net for information regarding the progress of all of this.

    4. As far as people are aware, Vita console bans aren't really a thing yet since for the most part, online isn't a thing if you want hacks. If they did ban you, they'd ban your PSN account and you'd basically have to say bye bye to all PSN purchases of any kind. If native Vita mode hacking ever becomes a thing with the ability to play online, PSN bans may become more prominent.

    5. Game .pkg's are just, well, it's not really important. Suffice it to say, they are the applications and games, etc. You can't just happily install them left and right, so it's pretty unimportant. You only end up briefly involved in utilizing things in .pkg format for some PSP mode hacks and such, as well as a little bit for the PSM developer app. But yeah, the PSM developer app was just a development kit put out by Sony officially to help facilitate independent game development on the Vita. Vita scene hackers found a way to use this for the sake of Vita homebrew. It has some caveats, and homebrew doesn't really exist yet, but it's all very WIP with only Rejuvenate itself really existing right now.

so switching accounts isn't as easy as the ps3 ? i have to get two memory cards then huh ? do you think its better to use the japanese account ? since the japanese store is the most active one out of all the others for the vita .

and just one question though , when i asked about used vitas at a game store , he told me that when the former users for the vita sell it , they forget to delete the account in it and that it is "impossible" to use it after someone had already did (that's what he said) , is there a way to restore it to factory settings ? because there is no way sony didn't think of a solution for it .
or should i buy a new one ?
and do you recommend getting the psm app ? i have a ps3

i really thank you for all the info !!

you can do a factory reset on the system via the recovery menu and it will be just like new again, everything will be wiped and you will go through the setup process

you could also import the games rather then switching cards, reformatting, and so forth

you cannot get the psm app anymore if you did not download it to your ps3, its been pulled
luckily you can install the psm unity app instead via the email exploit, see here - http://wololo.net/talk/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=43243

That last part isn't totally true. There is a trick that replaces a PS3 PSN download with the PSM dev app via a proxy and let's you move it to Vita via the QCMA trick or whatever. The steps to me were a little vague because I didn't really understand what was meant by the QCMA trick, nor did I know if it required a hacked PS3 or not, but it's a functional option still, regardless. Unless Sony has patched that too now and I just haven't heard about it, or it was somehow affected by the app being pulled from PSN.

do you think that if sony killed the vita and lost hope , the hackers would have a huge opportunity to hack it ? would it actually make any differance like what happened to the psp ? i mean its always updating the vita's cfw and now it pulled the psm app from the store , its almost like sony is fighting with these hackers ..

The Vita being alive or not has absolutely no impact on whether or not hackers will find holes in order to create hacks. Otherwise, of course Sony is going to try to keep people from doing things on the system that they don't like, especially while the system is still being made or sold. There isn't some conspiracy in place. Sony just wants to minimize as much unintended use of their system as possible.

Keep in mind that by having 2 different accounts on 2 memory cards will result in the vita asking you to format it before you can use it if you ever swap them around unless you use the newly released memory card trick which can be found here but it could be a matter of time before sony patches it, the only other workaround would be to take the memory card out and do a system restore.
