I downloaded a "NEW" version of new super mario bros. that has no rom ID just XXX ?

Apparently this game is much harder than the original release?

My wife has actually put her machine down in disgust trying to get by level 3 castle,lol

Anyone with any info on this unidentified rom please chime in or point me to a link of this games info or discussion

XXXX is not a scene release.
and if it's harder than the original, AND has different levels, it's a hack.

also, rom game ID is not based on the numbers (example: 0434)

can you complete each level or is this just junk?

still laughin at the wife she gets so frustrated tryin to beat this....she has no troubles with 0434

It's a hack.

Some PERSON (an individual like us, not a company) used a level editor to change the game.

You can find various hacks all over the place, the most popular being "new super mario 3".

She's most likely playing the custom made 'New Super Mario Bros 3' which was made with a level editor for use of the NSMB engine.
I'm guessing she's stuck at the lava rising spot?

It's alot harder than the original, so no need for her to get frustrated.
