Maxconsole has done a review on this chip..

Pretty much as I expected and most likely the same result for Wiinja as well (except if GC games with audio streaming and multidisc games end up not working properly for Wiinja then CycloWiz takes home the prize for now)

its on the front page

Review? I saw no reveiw there, just piles of text clearly only adventising the product... read what i posted on the thread...

MC dissapointed again....

Hello everyone, I just registered on this forum this week.

Apologies for being lazy, but I was wondering if you could show me any particularly important posts that I should take a look at first, so I can get up to speed here?

Many thanks, Mike

I will buy it at the end of this week.
But, They say "no wires to solder" but will we put solder on this chip ?
Thanks
The CycloWiz "fits" over the necessary points on the DVD drives PCB and you simply "fill in" the holes on the CycloWiz PCB with solder to "bond" the modchip with the DVD drives PCB. It makes for removing the modchip VERY difficult if you ever need to. You COULD use wires if you wanted to, but then you might as well just get a Wiinja.

Yeh I agree that the lack of region-free frankly sucks donkey balls.

This should be a big number 2 on the feature list for a mod chip, right under 'plays backups'.

=/

A modchip that targets the DVD drive can NOT implement region free functionality. Hopefully future modchips that are applied to the main motherboard will allow for that, but I think we're most likely going to see a separate mod such as a simple region select switch like we had on Gamecube. Or a software tool to "convert" images between NTSC/PAL.

i agree, look at these quotes CLEARLY advertisement

"CycloWiz rocks!"
"While it is clearly a must-have feature, it’s yet unknown, but unlikely, that wiinja offers this feature."

oh, and for future reference, people who are going with the wireless soldering solution might want to consider getting some Desoldering Braid before desoldering

ever heard of the xenogc chip for gamecube? it connects to the DVD drive serial port and your gamecube is regiofree....

Well personally hearing how the hexcode for these chips is going to get ripped out and clone'd to kingdom come..

I'll wait for the eventual clones and watch the price take a nosedive before hopping in..
