I know this isn't exactly "new"... but I couldn't find any recent topics on this.

I have the Homebrew Channel from before they made the most current one. It runs every program just fine... it just has that thing about asking if you really want to go back to the Wii system menu.
I did the automatic update, since I figured it would be an improvement. But then over half my programs wouldn't run at all! I read about it being possible to patch them, but how?

So I'm just curious... is it worth getting the newest one? Or should I just keep ignoring the update and stick with the one I have? If I do upgrade it, how do I get all my old applications to work? (I know it said something about using a new .elf standard... but I want my emulators!)

The new versions of the emulators all use DOLs.

EDIT: Meant DOL. Not ELF. Sorry.

Wow this topic came from nowhere lol...
here's the link to the elf to dol converter:
http://wii.qj.net/ELF-to-DOL-Converter-v1-...g/49/aid/125612

As for if you should update I say yes! And heres the reasons why!:

# Installer / updater now works with the October 23 update
# SDHC support
# REALLY fixed the memcard bug
# Installer now picks newest sane IOS, fixes some beta8 regressions
# Added a reload button (for SD card changes)
# Return to system menu skips warning
# Fixed some graphical glitches
# Saner XML load code
# Many fixes to underlying stuff in the newer libogc

So all in all it's alot better besides everything soon will have sdhc support so might as well get with the times!

Any other questions feel free to ask! But remember google is your friend....,

I've always wondered about that SDHC thing.

Say I use an 8GB SDHC card for Homebrew Channel... what will the Wii menu see? To my knowledge, the Wii itself only works with up to 2GB, so will that mess it up? Or would I need a 2GB card with my pictures, videos, and saves... and then another one for HBC?

I'll try that converter... but wait, first someone said they all use ELF, now I'm supposed to convert them to DOL? Huh?

update and get new versions of all your apps / games .. theirs a reason they switched , its because all the old elf files were made wrong and broken ..

they had been telling developers for awhile before the update was released that this was the case and only the geexbox dev listened ..

Doesn't seem to do that for me... I still get "Are you sure you want to return to the boring, boring system menu?" or whatever it says. (And I did update it)
