Hacking new firmware update?

Im currently in GW9.4 but its asking me To updated my system. I cannot even access eshop till i get updated. Is theres a new firmware thats release today? Is it safe for gateway users to update emunand to 9.5 now?

Thanks for the info but im still new to gateway. To back it up do i just backup everything in my SD card?

No, that won't work, emunand data is stored on a hidden part of the SD. You need to use emunand tool.

Make sure you are in emnand!!! I have not seen any reports yet of a new system update.

update.....if it all works, juct check your system version, it will likely either be
a) you partially updated last time you updated, meaning it still wants to finish off the update(it will show the same ver. after updating)
b)it may just be a minor update (browser/eshop related) which is shown as a minor revision (ver.x.x.x-X)
c) there is a actual new update that for some reason nobody else is getting....in which case it would probably just black screen on entering emunand, so you would just restore your backup

gateway wouldnt just make a imaginary update appear....it will be one of the things i listed above.....most likely (A)

New fw tended to not work on emunand due to the old encryption keys employed on 4.x consoles. So if there is an update, it will most likely black screen if you attempt to boot it on 4.x consoles and Gateway would have to release an update to add support for it.

However on 7.x+ consoles, I don't see why it wouldn't work because the encryption should be compatible. I'll back up my 9.4 emunand and see if there's an update.

EDIT:

No system update that I can see. Not for my consoles region anyways. (I have a North American console)

Hi all, i just update my emunand firmware and it get restarted then my emunand still work. I am now able to access eshop again but i lost my CIA themes (anyway i will just reinstall it) but didnt lost my CIA games which is good

Yes its working fine. After installing the cia you will have all the themes in Themes shop.

Me too, that's why I asked him what update he got... I'm confused now
