Gaming New DS Lite, bottom screen question

I got a DS Lite at launch.

Some time ago I decided to ditch it, and so I did.

Today, I missed it enough to get a new one.

I only have one question: the bottom screen - the surface of it looks kinda irradicly "bumpy". It's not a graphic thing, it's kinda like there's a layer of plastic or something.

I asked to look at another unit and it looked exactly the same. When turned on, you can't see it. I guess it's how it should be, but...

I am fairly sure the launch unit I had before was completely smooth. Am I just imagining this, or is how the top layer looks on some units?

Hmm my DSLite never had this "bump" on the screen. Maybe you should contact Nintendo about it or something.
