Well yea hello GBATemp! Its again me, SavageWaffle. I know my old topic http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=76287 and yes i was abit well mad. Anyway it seems now, where i applied for(job) a computer is included. I needed a Computer and thought of getting a Laptop. Besides that, i thought of upgrading my Computer Desktop at home. You should buy directly from ibuypower, so you can customize it and all that. The 8400 card won't run any games though.

For 500$, that is a pretty decent desktop. An 8400GS will let you play Gears at medium at 1024x768 at 20-30FPS.

I was thinking of playing "light" games. Like maybe Counter Strike Source. And even if its a gaming desktop,i want alot of storage. And even if it has a bad Video card, il mostly be playing CS or go around forums, myspace, etc.

It'd probably be able to play Counter-Strike Source with decent frames and settings until you get to the higher resolutions probably

Eh "decent" is what i kinda wanted. Making everything realistic, i don't care but if its for free, well that would be cool =)

But i don't mind the graphics, unless it lags etc.

Other then that, how about the 5.1 surround sound system? Is it too much since CS has guns and well i don't want a freaken gun sound too loud or il get a complate by my neighbors.

Thanks. And i calculated everything(without shipping+handling+tax) and i got a total of: $999.95. Odd number but this is the total(speakers,etc.) and this doesn't include the shipping.

Personally I say build one yourself and spend a bit more on the box leaving the keyboard and other fancy stuff for a while (I know I advocate good ones but there is a limit). Just a quick jot up leaves you over $400 for nothing that great to show for it (the screen is nice mind).

The graphics have been touched upon (not brilliant, passable at best).
The hard drive: I would want to know make and what specs, I find they tend to use the worst available and given the HDD is the slowest part and usually the bottleneck.

power: 420W, an odd rating but more importantly likely a fairly low grade one and will have to be upgraded as and when you decide to upgrade your machine.

Board: passable. Has onboard graphics but that it is not really the point. 4 sata might make life a bit tricky down the road and will probably need an upgrade.

Well im not "experienced" on building a PC myself. Altough i do have a broken PC. I can practice but i will need a major tutorial.

Well not all of them are just plastic... Some of them are metal or have a bunch of fans and lights. Or you could have the parts all hanging on a rack or something.

Well this guy takes apart his PC and puts in a bunch of new parts. I don't really remember which videos(parts) have him putting in new parts though.

You might also want to make sure the parts are all compatible.

Well hold on a second thar. It can be just as cheap or cheaper to buy a system with only a mobo+RAM+CPU+PSU+Case and put in a new graphics card/sound card/whatever card. But I have a great list somwhere, probably in your other thread, on what you need for a good new PC.
