Wave and AP25 have nothing to do with each other- it is just a coincidence that they arrived about the same time (indeed Fable 3 which has AP25 is wave 6).

Alas last night we saw the release of Assassins Creed Brotherhood which has AP25 and is wave 8 or 9 (not sure which) which means if you try to use it you will be updated to the kinect dash and AP25 becomes an issue. It also means most games from now on probably will be the kinect dash (not that there are many releases for the rest of the year- hopefully enough time for LT+ to arrive).

To answer your question- do not update as you gain nothing for it.
Unless you have an old Sammy/Hitachi drive that don't work with AP25?

Samsung drives have not had anything reported yet but I have now seen a few hitachi drives get reported as not working.

We seem to be in a period of uncertainty once again. Hopefully it will be resolved shortly.

Speaking of Assassins Creed Brotherhood. I noticed that it's out, but didn't play it yet. Any news on what to do when you have a Benq or liteon? I.e.: patch to wave 3 or not, use the activation-disc or not, or plainly stay clear of it altogether?

Steer clear of it- until you get a copy of LT+ on your DVD (which might be a while) it will not run.

wave patching will do nothing as the check is in the program itself (all wave patching ever did was dodge (badly) an error in some of the hacked DVD firmwares).

activate.iso will just disable checks (thus bypassing the error just mentioned) the hacked DVD firmware does (again the check is in the program)

to simply put, will assassins creed brotherhood work on a firmware which requires activate.iso after updating the dashboard with it ?

Not unless said drive is a samsung (or working hitachi) or you have a JTAG machine (and do some fiddling then).
If it is any other DVD drive then you are out of luck until a new hacked firmware appears (or you buy the original).

activate.iso (if you are still using it for some reason) just bypasses internal checks of the hacked firmware and AP25 (which is what causes this not to work) is not one of those checks.

@ FAST6191: thanks to the answer. I'll avoid it for the time being just to be sure.

I have to congratulate MS on this one (as I'm pretty sure they're reading along
tongue.gif
): they finally dealt out somewhat of a blow.

Hypothetically speaking, could patching the original iso work? Y'know, just removing the dash update and the ap 2.5 from the disc itself?

Kind of. Removing the update (or indeed changing it for a lower one) is what wave patching does*. 360 games need to have a certain update (lib version if you are looking at hacking programs like xextool) to work though meaning you will still have to end up at a newer dash in the case of assassins creed (fable 3 did not require this dash).

*wave patching was only ever a workaround for an overzealous security system in the hacked DVD firmwares and screams "hacked DVD drive" to anyone that looks.

Whether they require it as in it will be missing out on an software function or just it was compiled at the last minute to say requires version ? is somewhat immaterial as 360 content is signed by the MS private keys and your basic DVD hack does nothing to work around it (the closest we have there is disc swapping* and NXE install type hacking).

*thinking more call of duty hacks than the recently announced hardware based disc swap AP25 workaround ( http://consoles.librasoft.fr/159-x360sed-v...ect-device.html French language but loads of news sites reported on it).

Should you have a JTAG machine or devkit though you can run unsigned code (it is one of their many advantages) and there have been patches to remove AP at the game level (xextool can also take care of lib version) although those types of machines now have patches to remove AP25 at the dashboard level*).

*Dash Launch 2.05 in case you missed it.

It's important for society to be healthy and educated. If those things can't happen because all of the institutions that prop up those industries make it unattainable for all but a small portion of society, then your society is largely going to be disease ridden, dying, and uneducated in very short order.

I agree it's not easy for the average American, let alone the ones below that average. Free / cheaper healthcare is much more important I think than free university education.
Of course like @mthrnite said, why not both. But I doubt both will get solved at once, and surely healthcare is top priority.

As someone who went through the grade school system in the US some time within the past 30 or so years, not nearly enough is done to promote and educate on how to eat healthy in a way that is feasible to do on a regular basis and also affordable. Eating healthy is, comparatively, fucking expensive. So is eating unhealthy, but in many cases eating unhealthy is more affordable than eating healthy
