I been experiencing a cecd crash on my 3ds when i tried to do anything to enable street pass on any games. When i tried to start Mii Plaza it crashes completely and giving me this error as well. I tried to look for any way to resolve this issue, but i can't find no good info about it. Does anyone have a solution on fixing this crash with street pass?

Processor: Arm 11 (Core 1)
Exception type: Prefetch abort (Kernel Panic)
Fault status: Debug Event
Current process: cecd

Just to let all know that i already did a CTRTransfer to resolve this issue for another problem i had and now i am experiencing this issue on top of that. The other problem i have had the code Boss as the problem, but i think i got it fix for now.

The first place to look is normally https://wiki.hacks.guide/wiki/3DS:Error_screens/Luma3DS_exception_screen , but there is nothing in there about "cecd".

Does the problem go away if you remove your SD card?

Does that mean you did something specific to fix that, or did it just go away on its own?

There have been numerous reports about the "boss" crash over the years; no one really knows what causes it.

Right now i was able to get to the mii plaza without SD card, but with sd card it kept crashing, so something inside the files got corrupted. I also did delete my street pass file and it still didn't do nothing.

Edit: I did something like remove my micro sd card and put it back in and start mii plaza and it worked again and was able to recreate the mii plaza street pass. I am guessing it something with my sd card files that got corrupted for street pass.

With the boss i just some how had it again, but it just randomly stop even after doing CTRTransfer, so i must of gotten a bit lucky. It did come back, but after 3 crashes it stop. For the crashes for boss it was mainly when u sit on the main 3ds menu it just crashes just like that.

Copy everything off your SD card (Roadkil's Unstoppable Copier is recommended since there's a possibility of corruption), format the card, test the empty card with h2testw, and copy everything back again. If the test fails or if you can't format the card, then you should get a new card (and copy everything to the new card after formatting and testing it).

If something's potentially corrupted, you just run the risk of encountering other mysterious problems unless you do this.

Biggest problem this will take a well sense it a 256 gb micro sd card and it will take time sense it have over 120 gb of games inside it, so i might need to delete all my games off and reinstall them again to faster the process. Plus not much room on my computer to put all this in there

If you still have old .cia files on your card, you can just delete those. You don't need them after installation. (Some people do not realize that.)

I was going to suggest getting a 256 GB thumb drive, but those aren't that cheap yet. (They are pretty cheap, though.)

I remember deleting every .Cia file, so i am clear on that.

well i manage to clear up a lot of space. At the moment i am doing h2testw it taking a bit longer due to the 256 gb micro sd card being large. let pray it not the micro sd card, sense it my only 1 have at the moment. If it is then i have to run to a Walmart to get another 1 from them.

I emphasize that the card needs to be completely empty before you run h2testw. It will not test parts of the card that are still occupied by files.

oh no worries i already done the formatted the 256 gb. Do i still need to use roadkill's unstoppable copier to transfer all my stuff back or no? If no ill transfer all back normally and also it said it have no error, so it should be safe to use the 256 gb micro sd card.

Not really, but it's not like it's that much faster if you don't use it.

Sometimes copying everything off and then back again is enough to fix some problems.

well i am going to just transfer without it to my micro sd card.

Let hope i don't crash when i boot up mii plaza, sense this cecd crash will be annoying to get fix. I really want my street pass working again, so i can Mii Plaza done.

Edit: it still giving me the crash. I just transfer it to the without Roadkill

Edit 2: This very odd. I hold select to get to gm9 and i turn off Enable loading external FIRMs and Modules and I turn off Enable game patching and it letting me get to mii plaza normally with micro sd card, but when i have them enable it crashes, so it has to do something with them 2 setting in gm9. I am also on latest Luma3ds v13.3. I normally have this on because i go online with Pretendo to play Mk7 online.

Those are Luma settings, not godmode9 settings.

And yes, game patches can often cause crashes like this, if you've installed anything like that. But I have no idea what you might have installed. (NetPass, maybe?)

If you haven't installed any other patches, then it could have something to do with Pretendo.

I do have netpass under homebrew application and it work fine

i made sure to update everything before starting this forum.

If you are getting StreetPass-related crashes, then evidently it is not working fine. :glare:

Someone noted similar problems here. https://gbatemp.net/threads/netpass.663350/

Well i have to maybe turn off them 2 when i need to street pass and then turn it back on when i need to play online i am guessing. That might be my plan for now till they find a fix for this issue. Yea i think this might of happen. I had this problem sense last night when i notice my 3ds was randomly off. I though my Battery died, but then notice it was still full, then Boss crash code happen that some reason fix it self, then soon after it was the cecd that still having issue.

I also found out if i tried to enable any street pass from any game that have it. It turn it on then crashes
