I'm in a bit of a game slump... I typically have horrible game ADD and it doesn't help. I think the only games I've finished on 3ds are each Pokemon game, A link between worlds, and Zero Time Dilemma. Other than that, I have a hard time sticking to games.

I am not sure what I am looking for, but I keep sitting here wishing there was something along the lines of untold legends, ni no kuni, phantasy star online, enchanted arms, jade cocoon, etc etc.

I like RPGs, but I specifically like monster collection RPGs most it seems. I've never played a full final fantasy game because the party/drawn out story rpg genre isn't big with me.

I'm also a huge fan of hack and slash or loot games, which is why I love games like untold legends and PSO.

That all being said, I've tried LBX, RF4, Fantasy Life, EOUS2, MHG, Yokai, SMT4 Devil Summoner and quite a few others... none of them are hitting the spot.

I know a lot of people rave about the Monster Hunter series but I can't stomach it. I hate precise or slow combat and feel its really clunky at times. Plus, I would rather feel like a god and mow down all the monsters with ease.

The rest of the games, I feel like there is too much talking or they are horribly dated. I get bored and can't continue.

I am contemplating digging out my R4i since it seems like there are a lot of good DS games i may enjoy such as Digimon, PS0, or DQM.. but I worry the graphics or dated style may completely turn me off.

Anyways, if anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears :)

Try Persona 3 or 4. If you're tied with a 3ds, then try Persona Q
Edit-actually, they have alot of talking so you might not like it.

if you liked zero time dilema you should play zero escape: virtue's last reward

Admittedly, I think the only reason I enjoyed it was because it was basically a 20 hour movie with fun puzzles in between... I probably wouldn't have played it as much as I did if I had to read everything for myself lol

I think I played P4 for the vita.. it was okay but I think I just got tired of the vast amounts of dialogue. Think the same thing happened with Ys for me as well.

or in ds you could try 999 and both of the kingdom hearts games

I do have Dream Drop Distance in the wings, might give that a shot since I haven't played a KH since the original.

Maybe the Monster Hunter games?
I'm not a fan of them (like no story) but they're all gameplay. You run around, kill stuff, make weapons with battle spoils, and... a bit more. It's all about gameplay, so you don't have to focus on a story

Dream drop and re:coded are good games to start on the series, and 358/2 depends more on the story and such but it still fun

That's one aspect I love about it and I've tried, and tried, and tried to get into the series but I just cant. I hate the combat system, I'm always swinging in one direction and the Monster is behind me making me his bitch. It's just too slow for me or not responsive enough. I'm a button mashing fool at heart :(

if you like rythim games you could try the EBA and OUendan games, not common to see though xd

I do have a soft spot for rhythm games and warioware like games for pickup and play. What is OUendan? I played EBA and am actually playing the 3DS Rhythm Heaven in between trying everything else.

I also tried thearhythm but wasn't feeling it.

Ouendan is where the original idea for EBA was from, ouendan 1 came before EBA and its made by the same people, the only thing is that instead of occidental music it has J-Pop and J-Rock but gameplay-wise is the same

Edit: There are actually 2 ouendan games and the second is far more fun and amazing than EBA and ouendan 1

Edit 2: You could try Hatsune MIku: Project Mirai but it can grind you the wrong way if you hate moe culture, cool rythim game still

I'll look into them. I'm assuming they are DS titles?

Get Fire Emblem (any). The story is relatively thin and you can pace it out no problem.
Etryan Odyssey might be a valid solution.

You could also give Final Fantasy Explorers a try. It's kind of a mix between Fantasy Life and Monster Hunter. And before you say you don't like FF games, FFE isn't a FF game :P
Anyway, it mixes two games you don't like, but maybe it takes the advantages of both and not the drawbacks from your point of view (for example, it takes the "no story" from MH and removes the "talking" from FL).
Not saying you'll like it though. I like Monster Hunter a lot better. But since you don't like that, our tastes differ, so maybe you'll like FFE.

And if you hate farming, there is a material editor here /advertisement

Depends. If you tried the Great Sword, obviously you hated it :P
But Dual Blades or Charge Blades aren't as slow. So maybe you gave a lot of tries but in the wrong direction :P
Not saying you'll like it, but there are a lot of ways to hate Monster Hunter :P

And it's actually really responsive. It does exactly what you ask for when you ask for it, if it's possible. It's just that animations are balanced (read: "your first 20 moves with the Great Sword will deal 0 damage"). But they're always the animations you asked for at the time you asked for them in the direction you asked for.

Lol I don't hate all FF games, I played FF14 a lot but of course it's not your typical FF game and I am an MMO fiend. I'll def give FFE a shot.

I actually played MHG for another hour or so yesterday to try to force myself to enjoy it lol. I have been trying LS and it's faster/usable, but the fact that the attacks are about a 2 degree area in front of me, I'm always missing small animals lol. I also hate that I can't change direction mid combo, that is what makes it sluggish and slow to me. I wouldn't mind wasting a swing because I miss calculated the monsters move, but I'd like my next attack to be in the direction I am pushing my thumbstick without having to wait so long for my character to come out of his first animation. Oh and, when my attack throws the Monster completely out of my next attacks range.. that's obnoxious too :(

I also tried the LBG and actually kinda liked it. Who wouldn't like blowing things up with missiles? Lol so, I was enjoying LBG, until I started the mission to get the little deer horns. They run all over the place, take 3 bullets to drop, and never drop their horns -_-; I basically rage quit again after that lol

Do you have any other suggestions for weapons I may enjoy? I love long swords arcing swing for powering up the blade but of course that's not always usable. I wish there was a weapon that had arcing slashes as their attacks and not pinpoint frontal bashes for everything.

So, I am giving FFE a try. I enjoy the combat a lot more than MH, but I cant help but hate that they don't make use of the 3d capabilities at all.

Call it nitpicking, or maybe I am too critical, but all of nintendos gorgeous titles makes me expect more from other games as well lol. There are plenty of 3rd party devs that make great use of the 3D too.

Otherwise, I am enjoying it so far, we shall see how long it keeps my attention :D
